I got Windows 7 Pro. 64-bit for free for studing in a university in computer eng. And i love it much more than my Vista 32-bit that stinked and gave me so much problems.
Windows 7 wins by default as Vista is by far the worst os I've had the misfortune to use (of course, Kubuntu does everything that both systems can better).

No Vista isn't as bad as it has been made out to be. It can be a pain in the ass, but if you know what you're doing it works great. The only thing is, most people don't want to waste time messing around with it.

I don't want to jump in on a PC vs Mac argument, but the Mac OS package is called Snow Leopard? Were all the good names gone?
Yeah, Apple was totally heartbroken when they found out the name 7 was taken, so they had to go with the less creative and less original title Snow Leopard.
Windows 7 is a huge technical upgrade over Vista. I had no problems with Vista, I found it to be an improvement over XP`s usability with today`s hardware. Windows 7 is better prepared for the next generation as I believe it can support up to 1 TB of RAM.

I really quit keeping up on PC stuff after my PC with XP crashed. When I got my current PC which had Vista installed on it. Its a decent operating system and I really have no quarrells with it. I just mainly use it for the internet though. I would like to try out 7 and see what its like though.
I've played around with Windows 7 for awhile, and I can say that it is much better then Vista. It is faster, runs better, can play PC games much more smoothly at higher settings, and lots of new and better features. Windows 7 may have some software/driver problems, but that is to be expected for a beta. Even with those minor problems, it is far superior to Vista.

Everything > Apple
Apple's OS may be cheaper then Microsoft's OS, but Apple's computers are overpriced.
An up to date/decent Mac computer = $1000-$4000 (or possibly more, it depends on the specs and where you buy it)
An up to date/decent Windows computer = $500-$2000 (or possibly more, it depends on the specs and where you buy it)
If you add these prices to those OS's, then you can see what the better deal is. This and many other reasons are why I do not like Apple.
You know the old saying you get what you pay for? I've done the less than $1000 Windows laptop. I've had the Mac for about a year, and so far, I'd say it was worth it. (Mine was about $1200-$1300, Macbook, but with good specs for a regular Macbook. They've dropped the price, so you can get a Macbook Pro for that now, I think). Also for $169.99 you can get Snow Leopard, iLife, and iWork '09, so you have basically office installed for free. I think I might get the set, since you can now save stuff in MS Office formats now with iWork, that's the only reason I hadn't gotten it before. The programs are supposed to be better, but saving with office format is unfortunately crucial for sharing.

Word is 7 is a significant upgrade over Vista but to me it kinda sounds like Longhorn is finally out. Its an incremental improvement but it fixes a lot of the issues with Vista and supports a bunch of new tech and it "feels" like the final releace while Vista felt more like a release candidate..... Obviously if all you care about is the skin and you don't use any of the new tech than there really isn't much reason to upgrade.
@ the OS debate.... Personally I like OpenSUSE sitting on KDE4 but I wouldn't necessarily say its "better" than the other options for people who aren't me. The same should hold true for any other OS including OSX and Win7/Vista/XP but it rarely does
I've been using Vista since 07 and I have no major issues with it. It's always gotten the job done for me. I do get burned out on on the never ending stream of updates though. It's almost 2010 now and they're still releasing security updates nearly every week! Why can't Microsoft ever get anything right upon release? For such an incredibly successful company they sure do release a lot of buggy, substandard crap.
As for the question. I've been using Windows since 3.0 and haven't been this impressed with an OS since 95. Vista lasted exactly one month before I regressed to XP as I couldn't be arsed digging through the OS for things that I shouldn't have to dig for. Windows 7 has been a joy to use and tinker with thus far, very very pleased. It might look like Vista, but it sooo isn't.
