you can always order online. their products aren't overpriced if you're willing to pay what they're asking. they're only overpriced when the amount of money you're willing to give them is less than what they charge. as long as you keep buying, the price is right. literally. just because you don't WANT to pay that much , doesn't mean they OUGHT to charge less. it's capitalism, and yes, it is a good thing.

I only buy GameCube and PS2 games used from GameStop since they work perfectly in almost all cases (plus you can easily return them for a refund) and they are dirt cheap. I might occasionally buy a new game from their website if they have a nice preorder bonus (ie. that little Ho-Oh figurine looks mighty tempting for preordering Heart Gold...).

this is one of those questions that starts an NL civil war.

but yes, gamestop is evil, the games are way overpriced. somehow, the trade in prices are about 1/10 the actual price of the game. the used games usually have less than a 5 dollar difference in price from the new ones, and ones that dont get turned in with the box are put in another box the ugliest cover i have ever seen in my life. sorry for my ranting, but i hate gamestop

I once sold Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II Plus to GameStop for 25 cents after finding nothing else to with the game. When I asked they said it was a horrible game and even consulted my friends expressing the same feelings. I thought Phantasy Star Online I & II Plus was pretty good but I went along and sold it. Later when I got a computer with internet access I found out it was worth a lot more on Amazon, Ebay, etc and has only been rising in value ever since (I hate to imagine how much profit they got for selling it). If we're talking about pure evil, as the kind that wants to take over the world (OF COURSE!!! [I just HAD to fit that joke in somewhere ]), then no. However, if we're talking about the sneaky kind of evil, then yes. The only reason they're rich is because they sell used games for much more than they're really worth.

Gamestop is not evil if you don't do anything that rips you off. You just gotta be smart and check around before buying or trading in whatever it is you're buying/trading in.

I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am.

Great, another "Gamestop is stupid" thread.

Hey, after this, want to go call IGN biased!?!?!?

I'm just sick and tired of people hating Gamestop. I never had any problems with them in my life except for one instance. I bought an Energizer Power & Play Station for about $40-$50 at Gamestop, and then later found out that the battery life for it sucked, and one of the batteries didn't even work. I later went to Wal-Mart and found regular rechargeable batteries for about $20. I bought it and found out that it had a much longer battery life, and all the batteries actually worked. That was the only time I ever felt like I was ripped off by Gamestop, but besides that, I never had the problems that other people had. I even went to a bunch of different Gamestops around my area, and even in different states, and none of them were like what other people have described.

IGN being biased? Why should I care about that? I just don't really like the site because of some of the writers of the articles for the Wii, and its users. I was a lurker on that site for about a half a year, but decided to stop going there about a month ago because of that reason. I don’t go around NintendoLife crying about how horrible IGN is. There is no reason in doing so.

You always seem to get on my case all the time. Why?

he's not getting on your case. he's making a funny. he's expressing sarcasm and actually agreeing with what you're saying. it is a common thing on NL to find people ragging on IGN (hence the popular "IGNorant" term thrown about), just as you were saying it is a common thing to find people hating on Gamestop. RWP was merely saying both are common and ridiculous. so let's not be uptight, guys. just relax and joke and have a good time. that's what NL is for.

I got Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team new for $9.99 a while ago at Gamestop.

I used to think so...then I started working there, and it's just a business. Their prices are too high a lot of the time, but that's just like Best Buy. Higher prices are what you get for having a place with a large selection and convenience. The one problem I have with Gamestop is their trade-in values. HORRIBLE at best. They will take a used game and sell it back for more than twice what they gave you. That's just a rip-off. Other than that, they have a better selection than just about anywhere, and you can find some good deals on used games. I never shop there for new games, because they're always more expensive than Wal-Mart.

If you thought that they were evil, why would you apply for a job there?

Money is the root of all evil.

Therefore, more evil must equal more money, and who doesn't want more money? :3

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Neither do I, I was just trying to be ditzily endearing.

Just because I don't think it's a good place to buy video games doesn't mean I don't want to work with games and get paid for it.
