@pixelman I think that is why a lot of nitendolifers bash IGN [I absolutely might have done it before.]

Just let it happen.

...I gotta see this for myself now. Granted, IGN does a lot of articles critisizing companies on their business practices(as far as I can remember), so I'm not surprised. I just wanna read 'em.

I'll always love IGN for giving me awesome game and E3 coverage when nobody else was. Recently they have lost their way, but I still visit everyday to catch up on any news. They have power, and get exclusives, nuff said.

I wouldn't judge Nintendo Life on it's forums, so I don't do it for IGN.

I'm actually glad IGN is calling out Nintendo when nobody else seems to be, that it to say the sites with comments usually just ignore the Wii all together.

IGN loves Nintendo, they state that several times, but they (like me) just can't stand some of the crap they're pulling.
The crap online systems, the non-innovative super play it safe by the books. Course sometimes I can't blame them (IGN has stated this too) people people buy the games in droves.
Why put money and resources into a brand new 3d or 2d Mario that tries something new or deviates from the books when you can just take data and concepts from olders games for much cheaper and tell the game at max price?

I want more sites to call Nintendo out and I also what people to start asking Reggie these questions and see if he can BS his way through them.

I ESPECIALLY wish people would call out Nintendo more on their pathetic online systems. It's pretty sad when Apples App Store blows DSiWare and WiiWare out of the water. I mean no game updates? Really?

I used to like them and I still do when it comes to game coverage, but when it comes to reviews and original content they've definitely swayed. I'll probably like them more after the new Nintendo console comes out.

Agreed. Lucas Thomas is the best.

I love IGN. They have had their ups and downs, but what site hasn't? They seem to be all focused on doom and gloom recently, but I'm sure that phase will pass.

The site is awesome, many people that are on it are not.

@rensch that is a very good way to describe it. It's community is just like youtube's.

When it comes to their editorializing regarding the identity of gaming and where it should be going into the future, I couldn't possibly disagree more with everything IGN says.

But even if you put editorials aside, their reviews often commit offenses that are, in my mind, unforgivable. Here's an example: Wii Music. Now, many reviewers didn't "get" this game, and that's another discussions entirely, but IGN went further by passing off their own musical ineptitude as if it were the game's weakness. Specifically, it was Matt (whom I'd honestly nominate as one of the least intelligent gaming journalists I've read to date) who did this.

First, look at this video Matt posted as part of his review. He chose the "weird" instruments in Wii Music, and tried to play the Zelda theme, subsequently cursing the game for being nothing more than bizarre cacophony.

Now, faced with the horrendous video above, J.C. from Nintendo (who is essentially their PR rep for this game, and a musical educator himself) took the same comically mismatched instruments and the same song, but showed how you could actually produce something both interesting and musically coherent therewith, if you have any sort of musical ear:

That, in short, is a very good reason to dislike at least one reviewer from IGN. That's not just bad reviewing, it's dishonest.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

The only thing I don't like is the way the site is organized. I can never find the the lastest updates other than the few showed on the homepage. The boards and the community are obviously terrible but they do get exclusive stuff and news before any one else sometimes.

been a member and regular since early 2001, although I don't visit the boards quite as often nowadays. imo and there's no difference between the regular IGN and NL user for good or bad, except the medium age seems lower around here.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

@Firkraag I somehow can't agree with you that there is no difference between the average NL user and the Average IGN user. Read the comments, and you might see why. Just saying, it seems that you have strong feelings toward pre-teens and early teens. Not every teen/pre-teen is a whiny fanboy, you know.
Oh, and warioswoods, I agree about matt. I just don't like most of his reviews, he complains about the stupidest things that you can overcome with some practice.

Bigger community, more idiots it's as simple as that. And about the age I wasn't judging, just simply stating if you disagree then fine by me.

I totally agree. I rarely ever visit the main portals due to how messy they all are. I get my news from them through RSS. I love IGN, but they seriously need to hire some better web designers.

It doesn't matter what age anybody is in real life, everyone is 13 on the internet.
