I searched the forums, and couldn't find another topic like this one; if there is a topic like this one that I missed; feel free to tell me!
Anyway, back on topic. Just like the title states: If you could revive any video game series, which one would you revive?
For me, it would have to be the original Spyro series. The games before Skylanders, and the games before "The Legend of Spyro" ones. Basically, the games from 2005 and before is the kind of Spyro games I'm want back. I loved the original Spyro games when I was little; they were a lot of fun to me. I was really disappointed when they made the first Skyalnder game "star" Spyro, and then just made him another playable character without any necessary hero-role. I hated his design, too! The Legend of Spyro games were okay, but they don't even come close to the original games, in my opinion.
My favorite Spyro games are Year of the Dragon and Enter the Dragonfly. Those are the ones that I remember the most, since I was really little when the original Spyro games were released. I decided to replay Year of the Dragon a few years ago, and that was the first game that I ever 100%ed.
I hope Spyro will eventually come back not in Skylander form, but sadly, I think Spyro will end up like Crash once Skylanders is over. I have so many great memories from Spyro... it's sad to see the cute, original Spyro slowly fade away while Skylanders continues.
That's my answer, what game series would you like to revive and why?
@Blue_Blur: I agree with you 100% with Spyro but sadly I don't think they will take him out of Skylanders. For one thing when Skylanders was in test markets it wasn't really that popular till they added Spyro to it so yeah. I guess they could make a Spinoff series with Spyro and bring him back to his roots but I doubt it which is sad.

@Tasuki: Yeah, until Skylanders is finished, Spyro is kinda stuck. I would love a spinoff to bring him back to his roots, but like you said, it probably won't ever happen. For some reason, I feel like Spyro has a better chance at coming back than Crash; Either would be great to have back, but Crash doesn't have anything going for him... at least Spyro in Skylanders to remind people he still exists (Even though he exists in a way that most people don't want him to, in Skylander form.)
Now, I was only recently introduced to the series (picked up the HD collection last month), but I quickly fell in love with the gameplay & universe (so much so, that I'm now watching it's anime spin-off on YouTube).
Sad to hear that the proposed third entry has been cancelled, and with how Konami has been acting, we'll probably never get another one.

It is a series that I can go back and play anytime and still find something new or something I haven't seen before. There are so many things that you may not see but the developers put them in for that 1 out 100 time you do actually look in the right direction. F.3.A.R. wasn't completely terrible, it had a fun survival mode in multiplayer, but the focus should be on single player.
Mole Mania! It's a great and unique game, but it was overshadowed by Pokemon and the Nintendo 64. It was even created by Miyamoto, but Nintendo refuses to even acknowledge it. It's been 20 years...
Grandia - The game has slightly lived on by inspiring a few other game's combat (most notably Child of Light), and the recent PC port of Grandia II was encouraging, this series has been sitting dead for a while. The series possesses some of the best combat in the JRPG genre, and a revival could lead to some fiercer competition and actual progression to the genre (other than simply playing more like WRPGs).
Thief - In all technicality this series was revived, but from the majority of fans, this "revival" was only in name. Great setting, open-ended well made levels, focus on pure-stealth, solid horror elements. With the capabilities of modern hardware, the series could do some great new things and be different enough from its competition.
Half-Life - Waiting eight years after ending Episode 2 the way it did it just cruel. I'm also keen to see how Valve plans to revolutionize the FPS, again.

Osu Tatakae Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents:
The problem with this one is that I'd be really happy with them releasinga new Osu game but since that would be most likely Japan only, I wouldn't be able to play it on my consoles due to region locking. If they released EBA game instead, I think Japan wouldn't be getting it. It's a stupid situation where the games differ too much and they're afraid to release the same game in all regions.
Pokémon spinoff series:
It's weird that they stopped making Pokémon Pinball games when DS would've been a really good fit for it. I've been playing the original Pinball for a while now and it's just as enjoyable as I remembered but it's really annoying to complete. I'm missing Hitmonchan and it's pretty much RNG to get to Saffron and then find the right Pokémon. I just captured three Hitmonlee a couple of days ago but didn't see Hitmonchan.
Pokémon Snap needs a sequel! Especially since both 3DS and Wii U have gyroscope, camera and other things that would make it a perfect fit.
I wouldn't mind new Pokémon Ranger or Pokémon Trading Card Game either.
