I'm struck by this question loads of times seeing SEGA's demise with their last two consoles. If they timed Saturn's launch right, I think they could have trumped the PS1, in some weird way (but Sony would come back eventually).
I dunno....Sega's software support in the US was always pretty rough so I'd be hard-pressed to spend money on it til it'd been out for a while (glad I waited on Dreamcast for this reason)

depends. They're not in the console race anymore for a reason. Plus, I've always been more of a Nintendo person, so I'd be excited, but I don't know if I'd be excited enough to buy it, since I have to manage my money tightly these days
I doubt it - SEGA ripped my heart out too many times.
Not that it is even a remote possibility.
And I hate to say that. I wish SEGA would go 2nd party for Nintendo - get the old school Japanese game makers all working together. Crazy? No it would make perfect sense.

I'm inclined to think it would hurt their pride, more than anything else to allow that to happen. But it does seem their games sell on the Wii way more than any other console, and they are releasing games on the Wii more than any other console.
If Dreamcast II (or whatever) was announced, I'd be a very happy bunny. We might finally get all the sequels we've been longing for (JSR, Space Channel 5, Shenmue, etc...). Also, it'd get that silly hedgehog away from my lovely Ninty.
Four consoles though, no thanks! One company would have to give up as teh fail commenced. I'd say Microsoft, but looking at this gen' it would more likely be Sony.
oh God no. Dreamcast might have had some nice games, but holy hell it was a poorly managed console. SEGA were just no good at that side of the industry.
Dreamcast? I always heard great things about it. Shenmue I heard was fantastic. As for answering the question to this thread's title, the answer would be: maybe.

The console had some (not that many though) really good games.
As a business though, Sega failed big time with the Dreamcast. No one bought it.
No. Sega doesn't have many strong first party titles to support even the legitimacy of their own company. Did they really stand against Nintendo, one of the greatest companies of the golden age? (rhetorical question)

Well obviously it would have to be good but if it matched the quality of the dreamcast (which I've always felt is under-rated) and their previous consoles I would certainly pick it up. I miss Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio (that XBox one didn't count, if you ask me) and good Sonic games.

If Sega can go back to making awesome games again, then maybe. But at this rate, probably not.
This, but it's doubtful since the original greats like Yuji Naka are all gone, and nobody's really been able to pick up the torch on all their good franchises.

Actually DC was a big seller, lots of people bought it, even broke a few sales records for its brief run, DC was still selling well when Sega pulled out of the console business, well enough for software companies to support it long after manufacture, thanks largely to arcade ports, was even a DC game released last year, a racer by redspot games.
As for whether I'd buy a new Sega console, depends what kind of investment they could make, plus they'd really have to sort their games divisions out, just aren't what they used to be sadly, buying Dimps if possible that would make a big difference to me.
