I just want Kirby Air Ride 2 and a remake of the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Too bad both of those things are impossible!
I do think it's likely we'll get the DKC trilogy announced for NA Virtual Console.
I truly hope we have one more Direct to round off the rest of the year, because the last multi-game Direct we had was in February. With Iwata fully recovered from his surgery, it does signal a possibility that it'd happen, but I'm not holding my breath.
But to answer your question, I believe we'll see a Direct in mid-November. It'll touch on Smash for Wii U before moving to Captain Toad. We'll then be shown a sizzle reel of the eShop games scheduled for release for the end of the year and the beginning of next year. Then, they might divulge a little more information on early 2015 titles like Splatoon and Yoshi's Woolly World, hopefully giving a seasonal release window.
BONUSES: An explanation of how amiibo will work in Mario Kart 8, and the release of the N64 VC to coincide with Smash for Wii U (because of the masterpieces).

Almost everything I care about is already coming. I don't need new information on any of it. The only announcement I really need to hear is that Fatal Frame V is being localized.
Outside of a Direct, localization confirmation for Bravely Second, Final Fantasy Explorers, and Dragon Quest VII 3D from SE and Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold and Devil Survivor 2: Break Record from Atlus would be nice too.

Doubt it. Nintendo's gonna want to maintain holiday momentum with and end-of-year big reveal.
Also, the 3DS's 2015 is dry. And with no updates to STEAM in a while and sales slowing down, Nintendo needs to show something.
MM3D is inevitable, but for regular 3DS. I think the other big game for new 3DS will be Metroid Prime. What better way to show off your improved 3D and 2nd stick and sucker in your western audience than with an atmospheric FPS?
As for Wii U, that platform isn't getting new game announcements till E3. It'll be updated after update till June. The most we'll see is something like SNES Remix.

I do think a Nintendo Direct will happen, namely some time before November 21st. We know that Duck Hunt has a reveal trailer and there would be no point releasing it after the Wii U version comes out as all the reveal trailers are viewable ingame. As for content, I'd expect:
Duck Hunt reveal trailer + more Smash Wii U info (possibly DLC like Wolf and Lucas)
Game preorder system for eshop
N64, DS, GB and GBC announced for Wii U VC (shows which games are in Masterpieces for Smash Wii U)
Mega Man 7 and Mega Man X3 for Wii U VC in Europe and Australia
Mario Kart 8 DLC reveal (shows off Triforce cup and release date) with new update details like how DLC tracks work online
Hyrule Warriors DLC (shows off Twilight Princess pack)
