Topic: I need advice...on getting a date!

We've been together for over eight years, living together for three and a half, getting married in three weeks. No kids, no pets, none on the horizon either.

Hope that helps!

Since I'm a girl (obviously) I can give some good advice: Don't say anything that makes her think you're a freak. Play it cool. Act like you're interested, but not too interested. Most girl's like it when you start out as friends (especially best friends). When you flirt, don't make it obvious that you're trying because you'll seem desperate. And above all do NOT mention IT because it'll make you seem like thats all you want. Good luck to you.

Don't mention IT? Do girls have something against old Stephen King movies? Or is it just because It's a clown? How vague.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Don't be a cornball. She's referring to Information Technology. It's not a topic that makes for good dinnertime discussion and you know it.

i think it's because in IT, Pennywise was played by Tim Curry. Tim Curry is so awesome, naturally the girl in question would be sad that her date was already infatuated with someone else.

Ehm... to some extent, but not exactly. I would caution: those guys who end up quickly being every girl's friend never get a shot at being seen in a romantic context. Yes, "play it cool," as you said, and start with friendly interaction, but don't fall into the trap of becoming just the good friend in their eyes. If you've just met a girl that you are interested in, keep your distance and keep open an ambiguity about your intentions just enough so that you don't fall into the friend trap too comfortably, for you likely won't get another chance after that point.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

Oh, shut up. I already fell in love with my best friend. She shot me down, and it's been a year of dealing with the emotional mess. I wouldn't wish that on ANYBODY!

I'm dating my best friend atm. We are both aware that if things don't work out, we're still going to be friends. Just don't take it too slow but try not to take it too fast either.

Ouch man thats ruff, ive never had girls that were my best friend, but i did have girls who were my friends before and eventually ya ur right they don't want to be more than that because it might ruin the relationship u already have a such good friends if something goes wrong or its just a case of theyve known you as a friend too long to see any point in loving you more.

EDIT Donth8, congratz, what you've done is hard for a lot of people to do, more impressively, the fact that you have agreed to be friends in the worst case scenario, that is truly respectable

@donth8theplaya69: I'm jealous. We're still friends, but she's unfortunately very insensitive about my feelings (due to lack of understanding, not intention).

@Stuffgamer1-Ouch. I'm really sorry to hear that. It sounds like your friend isn't much of a friend. Believe it or not,I have more in common with youn then what you think...
I haven't heard from Cheysser in nearly a week,I hope she replies back. It could be just her job though.

@SuperSonic1990: Don't misunderstand me, she really IS a great friend. She's put up with hours upon hours of melodrama from me over the past year, never begrudging me any of it. It's just that she's all about her schoolwork, and was somehow COMPLETELY oblivious to my feelings until I told her, nevermind several people around us had noticed without me saying a thing to any of them. She understands absolutely nothing about love, and therefore can't treat me as sensitively as I'd prefer. She actually tends to act like nothing ever happened, which sometimes causes me to have to remind her why I'm doing something I'm doing, or getting annoyed when she carelessly starts dressing nicer around me and stuff.

For all those circumstances, she's easiest to talk to online. My best friend of instant chat.

ouch... that's pretty rough, man -- by acting as if nothing ever happened around you, it sounds like she's trying to tell you that she'd rather you behave the same way. have you tried making other online friends or elaborating on existing friendships so that you aren't subconsciously focusing on her so much as your emotional outlet?

also, the easiest people to talk to online can be the most annoying people to be around IRL. there's something about the internet that makes it so much nicer to talk to people than in person. i don't know what it is. D:

@theblackdragon: Did I give the impression that she was an online friend? She isn't. In fact, I go to church with her family twice a week.

As far as making online friends goes, why ELSE did you think I've been spending so much more time on Nintendo Life lately? Okay, so the site's awesome and all, but part of my reason DOES fit with your suggestion.

Yes, she would rather I behave like nothing happened, completely ignoring the fact that this is clearly IMPOSSIBLE! You can't go back, y'know? I do okay around her on Thursday nights, but Sunday morning is the kicker because she dresses up for church.
I hope that doesn't make it sound like I'm shallow and only care about her looks. I just mean it's worse then because it'd be stupid to deny that as a factor, y'know?
