Topic: I can't play any games because of a disorder in my head

I have tourettes syndrome and so when I play games, I get tics. Like for example when I play Wii Sports Resort tabletennis I have to blink my eyes a lot which means I can't focus on where the balls come from.
And when I play car games, if I hit one side of the wall, I have to hit the other side as well.
Should I give up gaming?

Well what got you into gaming in the first place?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl 2535-5527-9255

No just find the games that work for you, more laid back stuff where you can have a moment if need be.

Don't stop playing just play something different.

You can't play games , and you know this, but you thought you should ask us anyway?

That's much better.
@N64 Gamer-Maybe you should try a less intense game. Do you have problems playing Super Mario 64?

Try finding some peaceful, noncompetitive games. If you have a PS3, Flower is great. I don't think there is anything in it that would set off your tics, but I have no experience with anyone with Tourette's. And if you do blink a lot, you can't really "lose," so you shouldn't have to worry about that.

Wii probably has games that would meet your needs in a similar way, too, but I can't think of anything off hand. If the hobby is important to you, you can probably find something that is not bothersome to play. If it's not, well, there's plenty else out there for you to do other than video games. It's not like you can't live a fulfilled life without Mario -- don't let anyone from this site tell you otherwise!

EDIT: Haha, fudgenuts? I think that is the screen name of someone else with the N64 logo as avatar. Don't worry, he's not calling you names.

Dumb question, and it's not meant to be insensitive, but if you can't play Table Tennis in WSR, can't you just gravitate toward canoeing, island flyover, stuff like that? I don't know the extent of your problem...but if you enjoy (or are used to) slower-paced things like that, you can also dig out Endless Ocean, or get yourself Wii Music and suchlike.

You've got options if you like those slower sorts of games, where you basically move at your own pace and have nothing to really worry about. But if you only got into gaming to play those more action-oriented games and now you've discovered that you can't...it might be time for a different hobby. And there's nothing wrong with that. I went the past 6 years or so not giving a crap about video games (after loving them in my childhood) and I was fine. Now that I'm back into them, ask my bank account whether or not it was a good decision.

I'm sorry, I mistaken you for another user! My bad, fixed! I was in a hurry, and I assumed you were fudgenuts. You avatar is VERY similar to fugenuts's avatar.

Excellent suggestions. Endless Ocean 2 is an obvious addition to that last. Coming out soon, I think, no?

I've done the same, and my bank account is equally unhappy with this decision. I often swear to myself that I will not buy into the next generation of consoles, but that's such a difficult thing to say and hold yourself to. We shall see. Well, I will, at least.

You want non-action games. Go out and get;

-Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (Wii)
-Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (DS)
-Dragon Quest IV (DS)
-Art Style: ZENGAGE
-Mario Clock

Looks like someone could use a turn-based RPG.

Bingo. You could get into the Final Fantasy games. The VC has a few good RPGs too, like Phantasy Star IV and Breath of Fire II.

Avoid Paper Mario and Super Mario RPG, since they have an action hit system that requires close attention.

I'd say Wii Music. But if gaming is going to cause you health problems then just don't do it because...well it's just not worth it.
