Now that Rare are long gone, who would you say is the best 2nd party developer for Nintendo?
I think there are quite a few candidates, some of which escape me just now, but I'd have to go for Intelligent Systems. They're the guys that made Advance Wars & Paper Mario.
You mean third party, do you? I would have said Retro Studios (Metroid Prime), but they are apparently fully owned by Nintendo an therefore first party developer.
Yeah, I guess it's a little bit of a grey area. By 2nd party I mean a company that developes games for just Nintendo but isn't owned by them, the position Rare used to be in. I'd consider Sega to be a 3rd party developer & Retro Studios to be 1st party. Now I think of it maybe Intelligent Systems is owned by Nintendo. Should have done some research...
Best, or favorite? I have no idea who's really the most important one of the bunch, but my favorite is and will always be Camelot Software Planning.

I remember when they where called Sonic software planning, they made good Zelda clone on the Saturn, Shining Wisdom.
I was (and still am) a Nintendo fan, so sadly I missed out on all their SEGA games. However, I've had the privilege to go back and play some of the Shining Force games, namely I and II, and I love them both. Long live Camelot!

Just like 1st world countries and 3rd world countries, what about 2nd world countries?
Hm, good question. I think the origin of the terminology is unclear.
1st world countries are the rich like US or Canada, 2nd world countries the developed ones but belonging to the communist states allied with the USSR, 3rd world countries are the developing countries. Since the Soviet Union does not exist anymore, the term 2nd world country is unused and anachronistic in these times.
But I'm not really sure about it. I was never good at history and politics at school. Oh, and it's off topic. Sorry.
Cool, Mario Tennis (N64) is one of my favourite games ever.
Mine too! I don't know how many hours my middle-school self lost playing Mario Tennis on the N64, but I know it's a lot. And then they brought it out on the GBC, so I could play it whenever I wanted too...Good times.

And my favorites are Intelligent Systems for Fire Emblem and Paper Mario, Alphadream for Mario & Luigi, and Level 5 (is that a 2nd party?) for Prof. Layton.
