I'm in the middle of Ohio. If I do get anything, it (hopefully) shouldn't be too drastic. At least nothing is supposed to arrive till tomorrow. If anything, the storm should graze my area. Feel terrible for everyone east though. My mom said she saw a assembly of trucks heading east when she was out today.

They say we're gonna got hit but they've said that with every hurricane. The most we ever get is some rain, no flooding or damage. For the record, I'm in Rochester, NY, like an hour or so east of Buffalo. Either way, I'm not that worried, I'd be surprised if there's even any gusts of wind here.

What makes this very troubling, is that the hurricane is going to fuse with a powerful winter storm in the area, creating trouble for areas that normally wouldn't get much (if any) problems from a straight up hurricane.

Also, the storm's center is 500 miles away from NYC, but is already creating 40 MPH wind gusts in the city. Due to the storm, Chicago, Illinois has a strong wind advisery, and it's estimated Chicago will get wind gusts of 50 MPH because of the storm. If Chicago's going to be affected that much, imagine what's going to happen in the areas the storm's going to hit head on. On the Weather Channel, they said there'll be tropical storm force winds up through Wednesday in the North East.
The New York Stock Exchange has also closed tomorrow, and are pending a Tuesday closure.

Last major storm like this (which wasn't as bad as this might be) led to my place losing power for nearly an entire week. Despite our neighbors being a-ok we were among the last people to get power. Had to stay at my Dad's apartment for like 3 days.

In other news, it'll be slightly more windy than usual outside. there's a reason we're called the windy city...
Anyway, as I live near Chicago I'm not that concerned about the storm. I don't know anybody who lives in the path of the storm (the closest I can think of are some acquaintances going to college in the Boston area and a couple friends in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine, Florida area), but it's also caused an interesting situation: Yale (which I'm applying to) has pushed back its Early Action deadline from Nov. 1 to the 5th for those affected by the storm. As a procrastinating senior yet to do some of the essay for that supplement, I've asked my mom to see if I can get in on that too...
I was safe in NC over the weekend with just a bit of wind and some VERY light sprinkles. Lots of (sometimes heavy) rain now though. Not sure if it's related to Sandy. I haven't heard from the family I've got up near ShadJV's neck of the woods (Malone, Brusthon, Moira, Watertown, etc.) yet, but I should probably give them a call before it gets too bad.
Luckily for me, I've got a generator. I'm one of the last people to get power. One time I went for more than a week without it and Ifinally decided to buy a generator. it only powers about a room in my house, but the showers and toilets work, so that's something.

I live in southern Ontario, Canada. We are supposed to get some of the storm - wind, rain, etc. Weather networks have been warning us to prepare for power outages and severe weather. I wish the best of luck to those who live along the east coast.
I live in eastern Texas, but it's sunny (although cold) over here. I guess I'm lucky? But I know how bad hurricanes can get (hello Katrina), so stay safe guys.

We were stuck by a hurricane last week or week before that, nothing happened at all here (we only lost internet for a day, but somehow not energy) so let's hope it's the same for you

Oh gosh you are applying to Yale? Everything around the school is just bad lol If you do decide to go there, be cautious when you leave campus.
On topic....
Haven't gotten any rain yet, it's just really windy and cold right now in the NYC area. Any know when it is supposed to hit New York?
