Topic: How long do you think Mario series will last?

The world's not going to end. The Mayans are retarded.

and that's as likely as Disney getting rid of Mickey, DC getting rid of Superman, Dreamworks getting rid of Shrek, and Shoden Jump getting rid of Dragon Ball and Naruto. In other words, no, Mario is immortalized into the gaming culture and he won't be going for a VERY LONG TIME

I used to worry that the end was gonna end in 2012, too. But, then, I figured, there's no reason to get all fixated about it. I'm just gonna accept it, that's all.

Hopefully, not much longer.

I like the Mario series, but they can't do much more to the series without completely changing it.

I think Mario will die when Nintendo dies, which won't be for a while.

Companies can't last forever, and Nintendo is over 100 years old (yeah, really). It might be sooner than you think.

There's gonna be a fifth Shrek? We've still yet to see the fourth one! I liked three more than the first two, though that's just me in the minority, again.

On the list of companies likely to die, Nintendo is somewhere VERY close to the bottom

If gaming history has told me anything, it's that iconic franchises far outlive their parent companies. Assuming copyright law doesn't get a great big overhaul at some point, which personally I really hope will happen sooner rather than later, given the strength of the brand Mario games will far out live Nintendo themselves. If Nintendo were ever to fold they would either immediately be bought out by another company completely or the rights themselves would be snapped up very shortly afterwards. And I believe the same is true for most classic franchises. Heck, if I'm around at that time and no one else wants it, I'd definitely be up for buying the rights to F-Zero.

I hope not for a long time. And even if it dissappears one day, we'll have so many games to remember Mario by.
