My sister is a Homestuck addict. When I saw your avatar I thought it might have been something from it. I, however, am not a fan.

Oh noze, this is what my friends like.... They talk about it way too much...

Homestuck is so cool. Geez, I love it.

But I think the annoying fans of it are annoying. Like the addicts. (previously mentioned) So basically, besides 95.23% of the fandom, Homestuck is actually really cool, excepting the fact that it has birthed some very dumb people. (and trust me I'm not talking about anyone on this website, but I know I've been one of them before)

I've been meaning to check it out properly when I have the time, but I'm kind of afraid I'll be associated with the bad side of it. I know I don't need that again...

My friend is a homestuck addict, and she was begging me to read it for a year. last month I started, and I finally got up to the most recent part on July 1st.
I may be somewhat addicted, but at least I'm not annoying about it like some people...

I read a couple of chapters today. It's pretty amusing. I'll check out some more later.

The japanese dub is better.

I've started about half an hour or an hour of it, it but never finished.
Friends have told me it gets better, but I'm just not interested at the moment. Maybe I'll play the game when it releases.

That's like, 1/200th of the entire thing. It does get better. A LOT BETTER.
The beginning is purposely slow. Its purpose is to establish the humor, and familiarize you with the lexicon.
The whole act one is quoted by Hussie (the creator) to be designed like tutorial.
Just keep reading. I'm doubtful you'll be disappointed.
If you do continue to read, and have any questions about the REALLY complicated stuff, just ask it here. I've got a pretty firm handle on the inner workings of the insane happenings of the story.

No.
Homestuck in fact predates MLP, and is a story rather than enclosed stories that each MLP episode has.
It also has a great sense of humor, has amazing music, and has a great story to boot.
But like MLP, it has its share of annoying fans.

Mobile support is really crap, and so is my barely-functional netbook.

Has the series ended or is it ongoing?

I have no problem with reading it through mobile devices.
Only Flash/HTML pages won't work. The majority should show up fine. (including the chatlogs)

It's still ongoing. He hasn't updated in a week in plans of starting the new act on 11/11.
Catching up shouldn't be a problem though.
...Unless you, you know, don't have loads of free time.
