The easiest way to answer this would be that for me, consoles are preferable at this exact moment.
(Wii VC FTW)
Meanwhile my handhelds are languishing, I plan to stock up on some used DS titles that I've passed over.
So are you saying that cellphones/iPhones should only be taken out and used in public if you urgently need to contact someone? Nobody really needs to use facebook, Twitter, the Internet, or phone games when they are out and about. Please don't take this as an attack. I'm just trying to follow your logic.
Edit: On continuing to think about it, reading a book or magazine when in public would be just as bad.
Handhelds for me. I don't have to fight over a TV, I can play a handheld console anywhere in the house I feel like, and I can take it with me wherever I go. My 3DS saved me the other day when I had jury duty, lol :3

I prefer handhelds.
At this point, handhelds can do basically plenty, in terms of gameplay at the very least. We're not that restrained anymore, and that portability feature makes it all the better.

Ugh I know this too well. The wait can be long and sometimes you don't even get assigned to the case when you are called in, but you still have to go back. Too bad you cant bring it with you to the jury box.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.

I can just picture it.
"Huh? What?--uh yeah, yeah he's guilty."
/goes back to playing 3DS
lol — the sad thing is that it died long before my group was ever called into a courtroom. it was a crazy long wait D:

Handhelds. I had enough money for the Wii U, but I don't feel like buying a TV. Besides, I like being able to sit on the bus and game whenever I feel like it.
Although, that does explain why I'm already half done with Castlevania XD
Home console, up until now. With the Vita (and 3DS sortof) you can have the home console experience on your handheld. Especially with the PS4/Vita integration with each other.
Consoles. There's no reason to play video games on the go as they're too distracting and there's too much to experience in life than to limit one's self to something that can be done at home on his day off.

I always play my systems indoors, so I really like having my gaming experience anywhere at my house as opposed to a single room. Handhelds are much easier to get a game going on, and are very easy to revisit. I can also easily plug in my headphones to a handheld and really get into the atmosphere of the experience.

Consoles. For me, consoles have always had the better games as a whole. I've especially been preferring them recently. Over the past six months, most of my play time has been on consoles. I haven't touched a handheld since January (I'm planning to get Fire Emblem sometime this month so this should change). I don't even take them with me anymore when I have time to kill.
