I'd like to discuss historical inaccuracies, but Nintendo Life won't let us go anywhere near religion anymore.

That's probably a good thing.

How about people that vehemently deny that the Holocaust ever occured? (does that count for this thread?)

When I visited my grandmother in Austria (lovely country, by the way), her friend spent an hour trying to convince me that it never happened. She was 90, so I kind of felt bad arguing with her. In the end I avoided her (the friend, not my grandmother) until I left.

Whilst anyone who denies the Holocaust is an imbecile, I do disagree with making Holocaust denial a crime, and locking up those who do so.

Firstly because we really shouldn't be in fear of a visit from the thought police, however odious the viewpoint, and secondly because it makes a martyr of the person being sent to prison.

Why? If people are free to display there religious leanings in their signatures, maybe I should do also. Oh that's right, because I might offend them. Well..... religion offends me!

I don't think anyone is going to stop you quoting Darwin in your sig, Machu, mate, anymore than they will stop people quoting the Bible.

Too true. You have to take the bad with the good if you're going to promote free speech.

"Holocaust deniers," "9/11 Truthers..." if it's not a crime to be one, then it shouldn't be a crime to bash their teeth down their throat when they open their ignorant mouths.

Just saying.

I'm in the same boat, in a way. I have no problem with religion or people being religious whatsoever, but what organized religion (of all types) has done is a different story.

Im a german and i get so angry if i hear holocause here and jews there. Whats about the 6 million people who are killed, too and are no jews. My god in germany the whole nation gets panict if there is just one person who speaks in the public about problems with foreigners. Why the people arent able to talk freely about it? Nearly 70 years after no one wants to talk about problems just because we could offend some foreign people. But on the otherside everyone is searching a reason why we have so much problems especially with islamic people. There is no other group of foreigners in germany who act like them. That means they dont want to be integrate in the german society they even fight agains our traditions. Strangly there are no ther groups like them all other groups integrate themself very good. (learn the language, become a social member of the society and so on) Sorry if i left the topic.

I don't know if this qualify as a historical inaccuracy, but it is inaccurate.

I really don't see what you are saying here. 6 million Jews were murdered by the German state, and you, as a German, get angry if anyone mentions it?

@V-man
On the plus side the science 9/11 truthers use to "prove" their point is awesomely insane. I mean, I'll all for questioning things, but damn.

Trin, I think his frustration is that the tragedy of the Holocaust focuses almost exclusively on Jews, ignoring the memory of literally millions of non-Jews that were also exterminated alongside them in the same way.

Fox, it really is man. At least to those smart enough to realize it. Sad thing is that these conspiracies are often whipped up to recruit the uneducated, disenfranchised masses to a certain cause with which they would otherwise never be associated.

Get your thoughts in while you can, I got a feeling this thread won't last too much longer - but I hope I'm wrong.

I think that with the vast amount of evidence and first hand accounts that it is undeniable that the Holocaust occured, but its true that the facts of what led up to and who was responsible for 9/11 have been distorted or covered up for political gain.

Well, we all know Slavs, Homosexuals, Poles, etc, were also murdered. The Holocaust, as far as I'm concerned, is always used, these days, to refer to all peoples murdered by the German state, during WWII.

I think you're in the minority. Specifically here in the States. (More "fuel" for you, what was I thinking?)

Hehe.

Well, in the civilized world (Europe ) we know the score.

I can, of course, not speak for our American friends, across the pond.
