Topic: highly-rated games you didn't like

Two games I can think of off the top of my head that I thought were overrated are Super Mario Galaxy and Viewtiful Joe. I liked Mario Galaxy alright, it just wasn't great. I got bored with Viewtiful Joe and still haven't finished it.

Earthbound and the Super Smash Bros. series.

Aquia received a 9 from NL, and I swear I can't stand it, it's so freaking boring.

As for games not (yet?) reviewed by NL, Kirby: Canvas Curse has plenty of great reviews online, and I did not like that game at all either -- the 'magic paintbrush' thing felt so gimmicky. And Yoshi's Island DS also failed to impress, which was sad -- I still have SMW2: Yoshi's Island for the SNES, and I love that. the addition of the babies did nothing for the game, and the gap between the DS screens was a pretty big blind spot. :/

Ikaruga. It got 9/10 from NL but I can't recommend this game at all. It's so insanely hard that you must be a god or some kind of super dedicated nerd to beat it. (Or you can finish the game without any skills once you finally unlocked freeplay which is really ridiculous.)

just about every hyped up high budget game ever made.. I dont believe bells and whistles make a good game.. I'll take an under the radar independant game over a high budget hyped up game any day

Nintendogs, it got 8s and 9s but it was boring as hell.

FF8 was highly rated at the time, but to me it had the most uninteresting set of characters ever, and the storyline was beyond terrible, had an interesting battle system but overall a truly awful game IMO.

Ookami -- boring me; prospect of repeat boss fights a la Viewtiful Joe put the nail in the coffin for me.

LIT got a 7/10 here but I think it deserves a 5. It's not exactly Highly-rated but other sites I've been too were praising the game.

What (in your opinion) is overrated about the Smash Bros. series?

And, forgive me irken, I didn't enjoy Sonic Rush much though it got good reviews.

Resident Evil 5. I don't know what that was, just that it wasn't anything i wanted to play no matter how pretty it was. And i loved RE4, played through it maybe a dozen times all told.

I agree also, HALOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It's the same thing over and over. Shot some alien get in a warthog shoot more aliens.

Oh, and ALL GTA titles, they get so repetitive and mindless. The concept to me is just stupid from the start.
