Topic: Have you upgraded to Windows 10?

Haven't upgraded past XP yet...

I'm holding off, and it might not happen. My computer probably would have fits if I tried to upgrade now. It's not that I have a super dated computer, it's because I have a Mac and I'm running Windows 7 through Boot Camp. Windows 10 is not supported on my model, and while that technically doesn't stop me from upgrading, I really, really don't want to deal with any issues that most definitely will arise from doing so.

I upgraded to windows 10 from 7 the first chance I got, but I'm experiencing some issues.

Sometimes, the sound just stops working and I can't open up image files or right click icons on my tool bar. I was just a few minutes ago watching a youtube video, and the video froze. When I opened it again, there was no sound. Not on Youtube, not on Firefox, not on Winamp or Windows Media Player.

Sometimes, I log in, and it says the start menu can't open, and it logs me back out again ad infinitum. This usually means I need to run the update by logging off. This particular issue is said to be caused by windows updates - sure enough, if I were to log off my computer, it would begin a system update.

I am keen on keeping it because, despite all its problems, my computer starts up so much faster (even before I disable EA Origin on login). One other niggle I have is the C: Drive isn't as easy to access as it was in 7, and the Start menu is clutterred with crap I don't even care about.

Edit: just logged out and in again, and am greeted by a window that says "Critical Error - start menu and Cortana [which I don't even use] aren't working. We'll try and fix it the next time you sign in." at which point, on it asks me to press the button to sign out. I sign in and I get the same message. Again, and again, and again. The only fix is to reboot or shut down my computer.

I upgraded my laptop. It actually runs better, and many games run faster. But that's probably mostly because I could get rid of the many gigabytes of junk it had before.

So far it seems nice. Though I really hate the way it needs me to link my MSN account with my profile. I simply don't want to, but if I want to use any games from their store, I must.

There's also a fair amount of bugs and oddities that happen every now and then.

...Well I got until next year's summer to upgrade...so maybe the bugs and all that will be fixed then. So I'm gonna wait for a bit, my computer is already having weird issues right now...so....gonna fix those first. xD

Upgraded my tablet I use for work. It had windows 8.1 and it was a pain in the backside to use. Windows 10 has a bunch of odd bugs happening to me, but nothing that didn't happen before. Keeping Windows 7 on my gaming rig.

Yes and I like it much more than 8.

I've been holding off from upgrading my Windows 7 laptop. I'm waiting for all the bugs to get ironed out. Also, there's how it allegedly handles updating that I don't like. Other than what's already been mentioned in previous posts, supposedly you can't postpone updates like on previous versions of Windows, which could get quite irritating if you're working on a project and suddenly have to save everything so that your machine can reboot.

Another reason that I'm reluctant to upgrade is because it can go horribly wrong; the business I work in has a computer tech branch, and there's more than one story floating around about hosed Windows 10 upgrades.

The UI is worse than 7 on Desktop, and worse than 8.1 on the tablet side. The pop-up/settings menu on the right side of the screen is horrible, And the start menu is filled with Metro/tablet apps and access to the best features needing a right click isn't great either. I'll leave Windows 10 for my laptop, but no way I'm using it for my PC as it is. It's also still lacking some drivers for my laptop which work on Windows 8.1, but not on 10.

more than happy with windows 7. no need for me to upgrade anytime soon. i just see no benefit.

It's faster and provides a cleaner experience? Plus you can't go wrong with Edge.

For a laptop Windows 10 is perfect, I don't know about tablets because I don't care about them. The Windows store is nothing exciting but I guess they just need time... Windows 8 was messy, 8.1 was better but 10 is the perfect combination of old and new (that would be good advertising Microsoft, you can hire me).

LOL... I meant cleaner. By cleaner I mean W10 looks and runs better. That depends on your PC, though...

Screw Microsoft's browser, I'm sticking with Chrome. xD

Regardless of performance, I'm sticking to XP. I gain very little from Win10, but the price is just outrageously overdrawn, and completely unjustifiable for what it does.

But what irks me the most is how naive people are when it comes to Microsofts complete disregard of privacy. Not only do they collect your entire activity, they also have the ability to extend the range of their data collection to actual files and keyboard input. Such a thing has always been possible in theory, but never before has Microsoft made it that difficult to protect yourself from their dirty practices.
No matter what they do, I will most likely stick to XP until the very end. Or maybe switch to Linux/Ubuntu eventually. But seriously, screw Microsoft.

Eh, just using any Google service already does that. So what ever.

OS still needs polish and AMD still hasn't fixed their driver issues, so if you haven't already wait. But for the average user it's alright. The UI is much better than 8.1 now that you can window apps from the store, and a proper notification center awaits those upgrading from 7. Edge still needs some work, and if you don't mind location tracking, etc. Cortana is sometimes helpful, though so far I haven't found much beyond shipment tracking and corny jokes to be of any use.
