Topic: have you seen ULTRA HD?

I actually saw some of these TVs in Best Buy, saw trailers for Transformers and Megamind, holy crap. lol

They are on sale now? How much?

And isn't OLED as good as it gets with TV technology? CRT -> LCD -> plasma -> LED -> OLED

I find it strange that LCD has become the dominant tech in TVs, even though plasma has much better picture quality. Why is Panasonic the only major company that still makes plasma TVs? Is it because LCD tech is cheaper than plasma? Then how does that explain the rise in LED?

I forget....they probably aren't even selling them....gotta go look now, lol

Really? plug a ps3 into an hd tv, then plug it into as SD. you will notice the difference

Plug a PS3 into an HDTV using HDMI or component cables, then plug it into a normal TV using composite cables (yellow, red, white). You will notice the difference.

No, it will look awful. The colors are washed out and everything is very blurry.

Why cant HDTVs display SD properly?

And why do the cables matter? The image is being processed by the device, not the cables.

This seems pretty groovy to me. I do have one reservation though: My local news anchors were fairly attractive people when I had an SD TV. When I upgraded to HD, I learned the bitter truth...

I don't watch the news any more.

Give a high quality output a poor quality input and you'll see the difference: it's like running a record player through a really good speaker system — you'll be able to hear all the crackles and fuzz you couldn't before.
