After she says that, the next couple of days you start talking less and less and then even the friendship is gone.
Have you noticed this as well?

This hasn't happened to me personally but a few of buddies have suffered through this. Remember that its also up to you to keep a friendship alive, especially if you take it to awkward extremes, like asking her out. That's not to say you shouldn't aska girl that's your friend out; on the contrary, its good to start as friends. My current girlfriend and I had known each other for about 6 years as friends before I asked her out.

But what if you feel demotivated to continue talking to her?

I notice that they only ask me this when they recently took my Lvl. 100 Pikachu. In which I never see them again. Poor Pikachu :(

@N64 Gamer: if you feel demotivated to talk to her after she's shot you down, you gotta ask yourself: Were you really just trying to get to know her so that you could maybe date her, or were you really interested in her as a true friend? :(

I was interested in dating her. It feels frustrating just having to settle with being friends. :(

If your desire is for her desires to be fulfilled, then you should welcome being her friend. But it doesn't sound like either of you are too comfortable with the awkwardness between you now, which is common, sure.

@N64 Gamer: unfortunately, that's what you'll have to settle for, it seems. if you value being her friend still, that's one thing, but if you were only in it just to get with her, it's best to just let the friendship die IMO. i know i wouldn't want someone hanging around me that only wanted to get in my pants and didn't care about being my friend otherwise. :/

Yes actually, then one day she texted me and said she didn't want me to even TRY talking to her anymore. It's an awful feeling :(

that's life man, welcome to it.

but seriously, I don't think you were really honest when you only wanted a more than friends relationship, so maybe she's just pissed that you wanted her for something else, and I'm not judging you saying that you only wanted sex, kisses or whatever, you know... I always tell my friends: a girl has feelings too, because we, guys, usually think we are the victims and we can be pretty bitchy too, girls are complicated man, I spent a good deal of my early 20's trying to build a relationship with my best friend and she constantly kept pushing me away, then I decided we were really best friends and thankfully I never did something stupid like trying to kiss her, because I really cared for her feelings and friendship, the funny thing is, years later, she actually told me while drunk, that she loved me, she wanted me back in the days and all that crap... then she went back to pretend she never said those things... I could care less man, because we are really friends, and we know were we stand.

so basically, relationships in general are complicated, people move on, people stay together... if you really care about this girl, be patient and probably a beautiful friendship will be born.

just my 2 cents...

I am one of the lucky few who has never been rejected but still managed to get a girlfriend... in fact I've never asked anyone... man I'm good.

What I've noticed with "some" girls / women is they need reassurance from their female friends for the guys in their life. Even if they like you, if her female friends don't like you than they will find a way to get rid of you.

Also, plenty of people don't want to date people when they are single, but all of sudden want them when they are with someone else.

I{m going through the exact same phase and it sucks, girls are so weird on that matter, we, guys, if something like this happens, we just tell our friends to back off. sucks dude I know.
(and apparently it doesn't matter how old you are, the older they are, the pickier their friends get)

Here's a (hopefully) helpful advice: be yourself. I know it's said a lot, but I figure that to impress any person (employer, teacher, friend, etc....) all you have to do is be yourself. Also, being just a friend is nice too.

Yeah, it really wants to become a Raichu.
