I mean think about it, you barely see any animated shows made by Disney, the quality of shows has gone down the toilet, you don't see the original Disney characters on tv anymore and to top it all off Mickey mouse has been relplaced by crappy singers that in which make Vanilla Ice sound like Micheal Jackson and makes all the boys rather do homework than watch Disney shows.
Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. The Disney Channel is a culmination of everything bad about children's television. Horrible animated shows. Cartoons that aren't cartoons. Horrible role models in the live-action shows. Just...despicable.

Absolutely. Walt Disney must be rolling in his grave after such fail-tastic things as Hannah Montana, Jonas, High School Musical, and the Suite Life series. Also, stupid movies like Beverly Hills Chihuaua, G-Force, and Air Buddies. Who in the right mind likes this stuff? And to think this is coming from the same company that brought us The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and DuckTales, among others! All their good stuff requires real professionals (such as Pixar, Studio Ghibli, Square-Enix for Kingdom Hearts, and Warren Spector for Epic Mickey)! GET IT TOGETHER!
I understand, but put it in perspective. We're much older now so the things Disney puts out now doesn't appeal to most adults, but they are making bank off of all this singing, dancing crap. Disney Channel used to play Dinosaurs, Boy Meets World, etc and I'm sure many people in their late 20's/30's would generally approve of those shows. I agree that there is a lack of classic cartoons and my theory is that many were politicaly incorrect by today's standards. I speak that mainly for Looney Tunes with their racist protrayals of everyone and exploitation of speech inpediments.
I disagree (partially). For one thing, you can't find any family-friendly sitcoms outside of Disney Channel and Nickelodeon anymore. That's a huge disppointment which just leaves me with "Law and Order: SVU" and "Smallville" (now that Numb3rs is gone) to watch on primetime network TV this year. Back to Disney Channel, their top animated series, "Phineas and Ferb," is genius, and their prevoius one (Kim Possible) wasn't far behind. Now "Jonas (L.A.)" is pretty dull and "Good Luck, Charlie" could be better, but "Hannah Montana," "Wizards of Waverly Place," and "Suite Life on Deck" are great shows, and "Sonny with a Chance" is pretty good, too.
Now Disney XD has really disappointed me. "Aaron Stone" and "The Spectacular Spider-man" were really good, but they've both been canceled after just two seasons of each (or so I've heard), meaning the only show left on there that I care about (other than the occansional "Phineas and Ferb" rerun) is "Naruto Shippuden." (Yes, I know Naruto and Spect. Spider-man aren't actually Disney-made cartoons, but they still make the decisions on what to show and when to cancel them).
I will also admit that some of their live-action movies of late have been pretty disappointing (Disney Channel original movies included; personally, I've never understood why the "High School Musical" movies and "Camp Rock" have been as popular as they are), and their animated movies (when not distributing for Pixar) aren't in the same league as they were in their glory days in the 90s, although "The Princess and the Frog" was a step in the right direction.
Also, licensed Disney video games used to be a big exception to the "lack of quality licensed video games" tendency, but they've fallen back to the pack (or whatever a group of turtles or sloths are called) in that regard.
Anyway, in some ways Disney stills shows quality and promise, but they've hit a pretty big bump in the road over the last 15 years.
(By the way, I am not a kid. I'm 26.)
EDIT: By the way, I never cared much for those classic cartoons (or Warner Brothers' classics), anyway. I prefer cartoons where they at least try to do a decent job of following the laws of physics (mostly action cartoons).

Disney has always been about kids interests. Hannah Montana, Jonas, High School Musical dont interest adults but you look whos all buying the stuff kids. Kids today are into different things just like when we were kids we were into different things than our parents when they were kids.
Disney doesnt appeal to us cause they arent trying to appeal to us.
I wouldnt say that they have lost their heritage so much as they evolved. In todays business you have to give people what they want otherwise you would be outta of business. Kids today want stuff like High School Musical and Hannah Montana. Personally I dont see why but than again when I was a kid my parents couldnt understand what I seen in an Italian Plumber stomping mushroom men or a little elf looking guy swing a sword and rock spitting octopuses.

Definitely. The only one doing anything good for them is Pixar and the people who made Princess and the Frog. It's not because of age either. My younger brothers can't stand Disney Channel now, but if I turn on Duck Tales or classic Mickey Mouse, they'll be absorbed in it. Same with movies, I turn on most things they've made lately, no interest. Put in Lion King, Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, they love it. I've noticed the same thing with their friends. And I've only met four or five people who actually like the crap they're putting out now too. (Brothers and their friends are 5-11) So as far as I can tell, teenagers hate it (Sophomore here) "Tweens" hated it when I was in middle school except for a few odd people, and kids hate it. The same happened with Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. I don't get how this crap is still playing.
Losing their heritage? Yes and No Disney knows that Disney channel is more feminine. But we are in a new era. Girls love music and dancing: Cheeta Girls, High School Musical, Camp Rock But Disney XD has masculine shows: Zeke and Luther, Aaron stone Jetix. Yes it's full of sit coms, and Phineas and Ferb, is their only present cartoon, but this fall, disney is going to get a new show called "Fish Hooks" Staring Kyle Massey. Classic Micky Mouse Cartoons are on Disney called "Have a Laugh" (Which I personally enjoy) Right now Disney is trying to make up for what they done, now with No more Cheeta Girls and HSM. Also Disney has Announced Disney Junior A channel just for little kids, so now people won't get confused what time is playhouse disney and what isn't.
"Fish Hooks" looks pretty dumb to me. It looks like it could've been a spin-off of Spongebob.

The only thing Disney has lost is its ability to deliver a timeless quality to its films.
Disney itself has proven to be a remarkably-adept business at catering to its core demographics (children, and especially female children). It was in the past, and it is now.
The only difference is that Disney content now has a 'use by date' - hit a certain age and it's no longer interesting to you. That much I find disappointing from the Disney of today, but at the same time I'm not going to lose sleep over it - a trip to Disneyland is enough to remind you that Disney very much still has its touch - if it didn't Disneyland would be boring.
I read an article that tv stations and Movie studios are more willing to cater to women due to the "xbox factor". It said boys and men in the 12-18, and 18-39 age categories were more likely to play video games then watch tv or go to the movies. SO they began to cater to young women who are more likely to watch whats on tv or go out to the movies. It doesn't mean that everything is made for girls, but is does explain why Disney channel is more skewed towards female viewers.
Also Mickey Mouse is still on tv, my younger brother loves Mickey Mouse Club house.

Perhaps audiences change over the years, but why ignore the classic Disney style. Most quality movies with that Disney appeal come from Pixar now. But where is the Disney that made the Lion King? I can't imagine that such a type of animation would not appeal to kids anymore. If there is anything that would explain Disney's appeal, it would be how timeless it is.

I agree with you. Yet, Disney itself is not lost completely. Disney still creates great movies such as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, The Princess and the Frog, Bolt and Chicken Little and Disney/ Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland to only name a few of their great and most recent productions.
However, yes, I agree that the Disney Channel is a total wash tub full of ridiculous and AWFUL programming and it seems as Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network are heading down the same dismal road.
