Topic: Has anyone here ever worked in Gamestop?

Well as you know im suicidal and FINALLY my sister and dad now know that as a school teacher spoke to them and my sister talked to me on how to improve my feelings.

Basically she would like it if i could work in gamestop for work experience as some of the guys down there know me(lol....well..i do my gaming shopping there so yeah xD)

anyway is it tough work? like anything bad or positive about it?? lol

Well my sister works there, and were we are we can get a 15% discount of games we get (off work only I think) and you can also borrow games for free! I don't really know about the work though, but you may encounter some annoying/clueless customers.

I dont work at GameStop but i know its not all that bad.
Your a gamer and what you do is clean games, clean the store, put game cases up for display and other things I dont know of. Its fairly easy to my eyesand since your a gamer you'll probably never work a day your employed there

I have TERRIBLE Social skills...

Someone could ask me a question and id say "yeah...." or just say nothing at all.

It could be im abit DEAF or something...i dont know..

Im also a very very nervous guy.

Well, a job is one of those opportunities to improve upon social skills. I've never worked at GameStop, but I'm sure you'll do fine. And this comes from someone who has a difficulty bringing interesting things to talk about at most times.

Practice what your going to say to every customer at home.
Say "Hello, how are you?" They reply, oyu reply, its easy man
Just think positive and always say "thank you" from a compliment and "your welcome".

But id hate it if a customer was angry about a game and got pissed at me....y'know...
What do i do in that situation?

Just tell him ill return the game for another one or give him his money back?(Or credit if he's under 18)

Oh, and another facet of having a job is to...smile. And I agree with Chrono Cross, thinking positively is always a nice thing when it comes to a job (or internship).

No no no no... when a customer gets angry, usually you get your manager or supervisor to help the customer. I don't know why a customer would get angry unless they bought something that didn't work. All you have to do is ask customers if they need help. You don't need to be overly friendly or smile. I'm assuming Gamestop workers don't do drugs, so you'll at least meet some nice people.

So this is a great oportunity, to improve those flaws of yours.
After all this kind of work is to gain experience.

Well, I've heard rumors of a Gamestop opening here, so maybe if I walk in there and say my awesome knowledge of video games they'll hire me even though I'm not 16.

As long as you're able to talk people into subscribing to a crappy magazine or reserving a game they don't even want, you should be good to go.

Well, I used to be really shy until I started working at a restaurant a couple years ago. I told them I'd like to start out as a host, just taking names and seating people, and work up to being a server when I felt comfortable. I don't talk much, but I have become comfortable with people now that I'm a server. You'll get used to it. And I don't think it's much of a problem, since many gamers are alike, and we just want to buy a game and get out of there.

It has always been a dream of mine to work at GameStop.
