Topic: Hardest video game boss?

If anyone has downloaded Onslaught on WiiWare try fighting the last boss on Ultra mode. O_o It was hard enough dodging the various attacks from the Insect Queen with a very slow character but avoiding drones and other bugs was mainly problematic. Getting hit once most certainly meant death on the next one and those bugs have a hasty habit of pinning you down.

Tabuu was stupid in Brawl, so I ended up just notching down the difficulty level purely for that one dude, and finished the game. All my strongest characters got owned against him.

Yeah Hatsworth had awesome bosses!!! Favourite Platformer last year I reckon...

Another series that has spastically spastic boss fights is Kid Icarus. They were long in the NES game, but manageable. However, they are so much harder in the Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters... It's stupid!

I have to give it up to Kefka in Final Fantasy III/VI!!!! I had all of my characters at level 99, and he still was difficult!!!! lol

Eyedol from Killer Instinct is one hell of a hard boss im serious he will do the same attack over and over again. and whats mostly annoying is when you get killed in round 1 he is going to be stamping and regain health.

I officially own a MAME arcade machine.

@brooks83: Maybe it was because I was only in eighth grade at the time, and this was the first game that I really learned to level up in, but I remember him being as hard as all get out!!!! lol

Meta Ridley was pretty hard, harder than Omega Pirate at least.
Another hard one is the Phantom Train in FFI Dawn of Souls version. Beat the crap out of me w/ its Acid Rain.
The last boss in M&L Superstar Saga took about an hour to beat and was REALLY hard.
Most of the bosses in FFIVDS are really hard, since you need some strategy to beat them.
The Dr. Wily bosses in Mega Man 2 were pretty hard, especially the orb room.
The Ice King in Paper Mario kicked my ass several times before I kicked his.

There is a difference between meta ridley and omega pirate. MR is hard, but possible to defeat. OP was downright annoying to hit! The orb he held in his hands was the major problem. Metroid prime(the actual creature) was a fun boss. Hyperbeam FTW!

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, would you kindly?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Boost Guardian in Metroid Prime 2. It was really difficult. I barely beat it after a few tries though. I didn't think that the Omega Pirate was that hard. I played it in Metroid Prime Trilogy and I beat it on my first try.

Also the first Wizpig race (in the car) in Diddy Kong Racing. If you miss one boost zipper you practically lose. The 2nd race was easy.

are you serious!? the cackletta boss was quite a bit of a letdown in terms of difficulty. the first through third time you try to beat him you might lose, but after that you can beat in in a matter of minutes
and for FFIV (ive never played the DS version, only the SNES and GBA) some of the guys were hard, but all you need to do is figure out their weakness and their dead. like for the water demon guy, all you need to do is cast Lighting III and Virus and hes dead instantly

I would've mentioned the Boost Guardian, but once I figured out the right way to beat him, he actually wasn't that hard. A fully charged Light Shot will stun him and prevent him from using his more powerful attacks, and if you sidestep at just the right time, you can avoid that attack where he plasters himself all over you, and then I'm pretty sure he's vulnerable for a few seconds after that. The only really tricky part left is when he turns into a morph ball and starts dashing around the arena, which is trick as hell to avoid, but even then he kills enemies and destroys buildings, leaving health items for you to collect.

Don't get me wrong, the boost guardian took me forever to beat, but when I did, I still found myself wondering why it was so hard.

The hardest boss to beat would have to be the giant alien squid thing as the final boss in Metal Slug. It's the fight where you're free-falling back down to earth. I don't remember which one, but that boss is impossible to beat without getting hit, or even dying once.
I know you can play with a ton of continues or lives, but just try to beat that boss without dying, it's purely unheard of.

Actually now that I think about it, many bosses from the Metal Slug series are nearly impossible to beat without dying lol.

Meta ridley was the easiest boss in the game.
1. Dodge attacks until he lands on the ground.
2. Boost into him, causing the battle to skip to the part where he loses his wings.
3. Use the wave beam/missile combo and hold down Y until he's dead.
Pretty simple.
Omega Pirate
1. Boost underneath him, dropping a power bomb.
2. Do the X-ray/Super missile thing.
3-8. Repeat steps 1 and 2.

Just let it happen.

The last boss in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Metal Sonic and the Egg Walker). I hate that thing. Especially with knuckles because he can't jump as high, making it harder for him to hit the freaking thing.

That stupid Jack-in-the-box in DK64 is a pain. I can never jump far enough and always fall. And oh my lord that blow fish boss was hard as all hell D:

That spikey clam thing from DKC3 is hard as crap. Kaptain K Rool in DKC2 was annoying as well.

Mothula from Link to the Past (dark temple 3 boss). I hate that thing with a passion. And I never seem to have enough magic ...

The giant spider boss in Zombies Ate My Neighbors is really freaking difficult too, and almost impossible if you don't have a ton of items.

The boss of Exploration in BT Core is really hard too.

And I agree with Tabuu being crap. He has that one attack that's like, impossible to dodge.

That's all I got.

EDIT: Oh, and that freaking fish boss in Majora's Mask. I HATE that thing >: O

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

I found the Omega Pirate to be pretty difficult first time I played through the game, mostly because of the beam troopers he summons, but Meta-Ridley not so much.

Still haven't been able to beat the second boss in Odama. It annoys the piss out of me, I love that game but I can never get anywhere near beating that dude. And the end boss in Shadow Dancer. I finally beat that game for the first time a couple of weeks ago due to abusing save states.

What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets!

I suppose every level in Gitaroo Man on the PS2 could be considered a ridiculously hard boss fight (especially on Master's Mode!!!! YIKES!!!! lol). But, I would definitely say that the hardest by far has to be the SANBONE TRIO!!!! Oh my goodness!!!! It literally took me a year and a half of playing off and on to beat them!!!! Kefka was really hard in Final Fantasy VI, but the Sanbone Trio was nigh impossible!!!! Gitaroo Man is a great game though. Gitaroo Man Lives on the PSP is also fantastic, thought it's nowhere near as difficult as the original Gitaroo Man on the PS2.

OMG HOW COULD I FORGET LOU THE DEVIL FROM GUITAR HERO 3?!?!?

A very hard boss was the first boss on Sonic 2 (game gear version only).

Generally though I think that the old-school Castlevania games have hard bosses

Outrunner

The 4th level boss in Ikaruga (I think it's the 4th). I can never dodge all those little ships.
