Today, exactly 20 years ago there was the fall of the Berlin Wall.To celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall there are 1000 giant dominos along the border where the Berlin Wall was and sometime today they will let them fall to recreate the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Probably getting a Vita with LBP soon...

A world changing event, to say the least! I'm pretty sure many members weren't born yet or too young to really remember it when it occured (like me), but it's well worth a toast from me.
I was supposed to visit the area back in high school with my class, but funding from the district fell through.

I was seven months, two days old when the Berlin wall fell. Not surprisingly, I didn't really give a crap at the time. Well, I probably did, but it was a gift to my parents, if you know what I mean.
Giant dominoes look really cool, though. Somebody needs to post a video of them being toppled on this thread, okay?

Rightfully earned congratulations, it was a long and perilous journey.

What the fudge! It wasn't the 9th in America yet, so you couldn't wish Germany well. Says a lot.
I was only 11 when it happened but I remember the scenes well, and my parents tried to convey it's importance. It changed Europe, and the World. Hope you and everyone in Germany has a great day Roopa132

It's now the 9th so us Americans can now celebrate! What if someone jumped the fence and knocked over the dominoes ?

For the history challenged, here's a short video talking about the events leading to the fall of the Berlin Wall:

I think I could record the TV event with my cellphone but then don't complain about the bad quality and camera shaking

I was still living in Germany at the time, and I vaguely remember all the fuss on TV and such, but it didn't really sink in at the time. Hey, I was only seven! So sue me.

Tis a real shame that, this event eventually brought an end to the Cold-war, but instead, Google celebrate Count von Count being 40. Missed opportunity.

I hope that is a joke !!!
I hope today was a good day for all German citizens, especially those who lived through and were affected by the darker days of the Berlin wall. It is nice to see how things have changed since then. Is today classed as a public holiday then in Germany ?
The Domino thing looks cool and is a excellent way to symbolise the fall of the wall.
This is good
