I've been looking at Graphic Novels and Manga more and more recently and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good ones? I'm familiar with some of the most famous examples but I'm looking for something new, something different. So far, I've only Read Death Note for manga and for graphic novels, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Watchmen and V For Vendetta.

Magna-wise, you should try Dragonball and Bleach.

I thought Bleach was slower than an anime should be. It has some good action scenes but they shouldn't go on for 5 volumes.

Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.

Being serious, I don't have any real preferences here. Just looking for a good read

Ral & Grad might be worth checking out. Same artist as Death Note but diferent author. It's only a four volume series so it wont be to long to read it.

Full Metal Alchemest is one of my faverite series. The manga is better then the anime IMO (the story is diferent and still going.)

Their, two sugestions.

Dragon Ball. I love Akira Torijama's great drawings and storytelling. Although it gets kinda ridiculous how many times the main characters get ressurected all the time after being killed several times over the years. And there is always a "strongest person in the universe" that is outdone by half of the main cast in the next volume which is kinda weird".

And I like the graphic novel Dark Wraith of Shannara which is situated in the same universe as the standard fantasy novels in the Shannara series by Terry Brooks, one of the most renowned post-Tolkien fantasy authors.

For Japanese Manga, the best ones in my opinion are Dragon Head, Monster, and Ikigami. I especially recommend Ikigami as a thriller and biting social critique.

My very favourite, although one that will have a very niche appeal, is Uzumaki. Uzumaki is a relatively short horror series that is quite Lovecraftian in its approach. It has moments that are genuinely creepy, and the imagery is quite vivid.
