This is the best thread ever, and I pity everyone who won't get to see it. Also, your and you're. You're is short for you are. Your is used if you are talking about what someone else has. FE: this is your cat.
Just let it happen.

@Waltz-Elf Don't assume that someone isn't intelligent just because of poor grammar. I know some people who, while they may use extremely poor grammar, are quite intelligent when it comes to school and education.
misuse of your/you're and there/their/they're is my biggest peeve and DEFINITELY! It's not definately, defanatly, defanitly, definitly, or defiantly. That word is not that hard to spell, people!
Actually, that word and "certainly" are hellish for me. Every time I write something, I have to go back and fix every single instance of both words
It's not really that big of a deal fellas. As long as you can understand what they're saying, who really cares.
People with some respect for themselves, people who are reading what they're writing, and the English (hi Adam!) language?

Being able to articulate yourself correctly in society is a key sign of intelligence. School grades are not. There are precious few examples of really intelligent people throughout history who lacked basic writing ability.
I also don't like it when people use incorrect comparative and superlative words. You don't say "more good", you say better. That was even in the title of a thread posted recently!
Just let it happen.

Last I checked, this thread is optional viewing. Why do you guys care? Clearly you do care about something here or you wouldn't have responded or even read the thread in the first place. It's not like these guys are commandeering the forum and editing correct grammar into ur posts are banning ppl who cant talk write.
Granted, some of those who have responded do seem to be interpreting correct grammar as representative of a purer soul, but that's a minority point of view and not at all implied by the original post which was just a lesson for anyone who cared to read it.

I also hate it when people use ppl instead of writing the word, use ur instead of your, and forget to add "and" between words

Did I forget an "and"? I don't see it. Maybe you missed the "are" substituted for "or." That, incidentally, is one of the most confusing mistakes around.

Oh wow, I'm stupid. Another mistake, in a case like that, use "or", not "and".
Just let it happen.

Yes, but it's the most ridiculous argument possible (I've seen it happen on other forums before). It is literally defending being (deliberately) incorrect. Saying it's OK to have poor grammar is like getting up on a soapbox and insisting that Ninjabread Man is an acceptable way to program a video game.
I should have used that tactic at school. If I got a bad mark I should have gone up to my teacher and said "no, this is an A, because who cares - if you didn't like it, you didn't have to read it."
@ Everyone The whole point of a forum is to let people share their opinion. Not caring about caring about grammar is their opinion. They have as much of a right to not care about caring about grammar as we have to right to care about caring about grammar.

Yeah but... never mind. You win Adam. /me waves white flag in surrender.
@Waltzelf some people don't have English as their native language, so it's not fair to ask for perfect grammar from everybody. Bad grammar is ok in chats, because you want to say something fast. On forums, you have all the time you want, so why not make what you say look nice?
Just let it happen.
