Because games don't pay for themselves and I'm a total n00b when it comes to finding good jobs, especially in my area where every business seems to fail, made worse by the current state of the economy. I've searched on several sites, none of the seem to be helpful, and I'd prefer to not have to resort to skimming through the want ads. Does anybody know of a good site that they've found helpful?
do u have a degree? if not, craigslist might be your best bet. most job searching sights are kind of scammish. you need to pay for an account in order to submit your resume and application. internet job hunting just kind of sucks in general.
Even with a degree, I'd say that craigslist and careerbuilder are the best. Look for employment agencies as well, many of which you'll actually find through craigslist and careerbuilder. In my experience, steer clear of Monster.com.
Craigslist and Careerbuilder, got it. Avoid monster.com, also got it. And to answer your Question: I got a high school degree, and that's it, only minor experience, not really anything I'd put on a resume.
monster.com is crap, careerbuilder is only slightly better if you have no degree. without a degree, snagajob was pretty good -- it actually netted me two interviews. some big corporations like wal-mart, target, sears, lowes, family dollar, etc. may not advertise via the big job-search websites, but they'll have applications you can fill out from their own websites (and if you try to go into their stores and ask for an application they'll point you to a kiosk or tell you to apply online). now is the best time to try to apply for a job at a retail store, everyone's looking for seasonal help at the moment.
watch out for craigslist, though -- they've cracked down on scammers lately, but there's still all kinds of 'em hanging around waiting to phish your info.

I really like snagajob.com you create an account, give them different type of jobs you would like to work at, then they email you links to new job listings in your area.

As Dragon and Wildvine said, Snagajob is pretty awesome, even though I've yet to accomplish what it says on the tin by using it...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
I would also suggest you check out networking sites like LinkedIn and some others for whatever field or line of work you would like to get into. In this day and age, it's not what you know, but who you know that can really make a difference.
No degree? Even with one, sans connections, good luck in our current economy unless you're willing to settle for a menial labor or service industry jobs (nothing wrong with either). I have more than a few friends who've been out of work for quite some time, even with good degrees.
