@Kid_A: Cloverfield sucked, and Star Trek was only good for the fanservice -- there were a few major things that got on my nerves, and i'm not so sure how i feel about him doing a sequel. Also, I've read up on Lost and how it ended (i was interested to find out what the hype was all about -- he was the series creator, wrote many episodes and is credited for the finale), and if that's the best he can do, I'm just not interested.

Hmm, that new cartoon looks a bit dull. I loved Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack - all quite original ideas pulled off well. This new series seems to have a lot of retreaded themes and plots, and I really don't like the wannabe anime style. :/
Well guys, to be quite honest I like the combination of hand drawn animation with CGI, especially in movies like Treasure Planet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and The Prince of Egypt and The Road To El Dornado.
That's because the CGi was done well - it was not noticeably different from the drawn animation. Those also had more realistic visual styles so detailed CGI sequences fit in with their aesthetic.
I watched the premiere on Friday and thought it was pretty good. I like how the robot accessed the Internet to find information on high school and came up with a trailer for a bad high school sitcom. It makes you wonder what space aliens would think of us if they could see some of the stuff that goes online. I also like how the robot explained high school cliques from the view of an outsider.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Looks ok, but kind of like CN told GT that he could make another show and handed him Mainstream-themed program 255 and he had to run with it.
No my friend, it wasn't a forced evil scheme. It was all Tartakovsky's love for big robots and the classic good ole days. Tartakovsky wanted to pay respect to his childhood favorites like Voltron. Case in point at the following link: http://www.wired.com/underwire/2010/09/symbionic-titan/?pid=9...
@ Joetherocker, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I really like Sym-Bionic Titans and I think the show really is a sign of hope for Cartoon Network.

@Tokyo Red: I know. Both Tartakovsky and McCracken were well known for collaborating back then.
Anyways, according to a new interview: -Genndy is still in the early development stages for the Samurai Jack movie. -He went with CGI for Sym-Bionic Titan because it helped convey the style he had in mind (of a somewhat transparent robot). -He provided concept art for the recent DVD release of Dexter's Lab (apparently it wasn't shown in the release). He also talks of the possibility of posting it online. He's almost completed a 4-issue comic for Marvel featuring Luke Cage. He has an ending in mind for Samurai Jack and suggests fans write to CN if they want to see it made.
J.J Abrams gets free awesome points for Lost. He'll have to do a lot of crap to wipe that away.
Back to the point, I remember my sister loving Powerpuff Girls, and Samurai Jack was pretty O.K.
The only thing in my opinion that J.J. Abrams did right was his Star Trek. J.J. Abrams Star Trek fits perfectly into the Star Trek universe.
My sister also enjoyed The Powerpuff Girls. I really liked the simian Mojo Jojo and for some reason I have always thought that Mojo and Yoda as introduced in SW Epi V: The Empire Strikes Back were similar and had some kind of connection of which I've not yet been able to figure out.

Different strokes, I guess. I absolutely loved Cloverfield and I thought Star Trek was a sci fi masterpiece (and I'm certainly not a fan of the series). I can't speak for Lost, though. Never watched it.
Anyway, I have no problem admitting that I enjoyed Powerpuff Girls far more than my sister did

the only reason it 'fits perfectly' is because it's not a part of the established canon universe, and thank god for that. I don't even know how i feel about Spock Prime sticking around in that alternate universe... ugh. :/

Well, strictly speaking, it's the new canon universe, since the original is basically wiped from existence due to the alteration of the timeline (barring any Marvel Universe-style multiverse-type thingy). =D /end supreme nerd-osity
I liked the movie, even though it was certainly a "different" Trek -- i did appreciate that they at least worked how/why it was a franchise reboot into the plot, rather than just saying "ignore everything else, and look at the new young people!" And Karl Urban as Bones was supreme awesomeness. I'm curious to see what direction the franchise takes (though i have to wonder if we're to be without a Trek TV series for quite some time now).
@shpydar: the original wasn't 'wiped from existence'... it's still there, it's just an alternate timeline. think of the Mirror universe, if you will -- it progressed from Enterprise through TOS all the way through DS9 and (assumingly) beyond.
and yes, Karl Urban as Bones was supreme awesomeness... like i said, the fanservice was great. it's new!Spock that gets on my nerves, and Uhura needs to go -- i can't stand her in the reboot. also, Vulcan destroyed, wtf
i just hope he doesn't screw around with the Klingons the same way he screwed around with the Romulans. :/

And what!? The Lost guy might be directing the Samurai Jack movie?? That better not be true...

Well, yeah, i guess. That was my thought on the "Marvel Universe-style multiverse" thing. You're right; the Mirror Universe did establish the precedent of alternate-timeline-universes in the franchise. Since it's an alternate timeline, i guess it's not really "wiped" in that sense, but is just now no longer the "correct" timeline (depending on how you look at it). If i may franchise-jump and quote The Doctor, "wibbly wobbly, timey wimey ... stuff." =)
Interesting now though that Enterprise is the only series to exist in both universes.
and Uhura needs to go -- i can't stand her in the reboot.
Totally agreed. Sylar-Spock was okay, but no one can match Nimoy; i think Zach Quinto can refine his performance though, he does seem to genuinely care about doing justice to the role. The Vulcan-destroyed thing was messed up, but i guess it was JJ's (and Paramount's) metaphor for "blowing up" the franchise as it had existed.

Well Uhura was quite an annoyance with all the romance between her and Spock. To be honest, I liked Uhura immensely in Star Trek: TOS (I am a male). I really liked Uhura in "Mirror, Mirror" and "The Trouble With Tribbles".
However, Zoe Saldana is one of my favorite actresses, she performed well in both Star Trek and Avatar but in Abrams Star Trek it is almost as if she's a (God forbid) sex symbol or something and it's ANNOYING. I'm so SICK of everything being turned into a sexually suggestive type of thing. Mercy, can't we just have some good entertainment with good story-lines and nice action sequences? The X-Men movies were grand, the Spider-Man Trilogy was grand (especially Spider Man 3) the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were massively great, the Fantastic Four movies were spectacularly enjoyable, and Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia are all gloriously beautiful and so much more and yes, J.J. Abrams Star Trek gave Michael Bay's Transformers a kick in the bricks. But, yes, I agree they need to fix Uhura because all this romanticism between she and Spock is so not right that it reaks to the heights beyond the sky.
As for the timeline and canon issues, they aren't anything to fret about. I like the way J.J. Abrams is handling Star Trek and he is doing a good job and isn't messing it up like Bay did with Transformers. Abrams is keeping the essence and spirit of Star Trek while combining it with a bit of Star Wars for good measure and I've got no problem with that as Star Wars has always been on my number one favorite while Star Trek has always been number 2.
But back onto the issue of Sym-Bionic Titans. Seeing as Sym-Bionic Titans is getting so many positive reviews from i09.com and others does anyone think Cartoon Network might order a new version of Voltron?
Upon viewing that does anyone think that in light of Sym-Bionic Titans and Voltron Cartoon Network might order a new version or sequel to the original Voltron? After all, Cartoon Network is bringing back Thundercats and Bugs Bunny in all new shows in Q1 of 2011 according to TV Guide Magazine's Comic Con issue.
I pray to God Cartoon Network will trash the trashy Adventure Time, Regular Show, Total Drama Island and all the live action misery they have such as Unnatural History and get more GOOD entertainment like Generator Rex, Sym-Bionic Titans, Star Wars The Clone Wars and revive the long gone Teen Titans. Teen Titans WAS the best thing on Cartoon Network back in the golden days. At lest Young Justice is coming this Autumn!

@TokyoRed: I know you've got a hate-boner for anything sex-related, but my only beef with Uhura in the new movie was that she was all over Spock and he was allowing it to happen, which shouldn't have been happening at all IMO. other than that, she was all right.
