I also found out that BattleTech had several comic book series. They're all old and out of print, though. Might be hard to get ahold of...

No wait, I can get all 6 issues for under $8, albeit used. Wow.

Hey all you comic guy(s), Humble Bundle is having an Image bundle, featuring comics from Image Comics.

To be quite honest, I don;t like the look of the base comics. East of West sounds interesting, but the rest...not so much. Who knows, maybe they'll surprise me. The good news (at least in my eyes) is that if you pay above the average, you can get a bunch of comics I know I've been meaning to check out, including two volumes of Saga (that's 12 issues all together), a volume of the Manhattan Project, and a volume of Invincible. Revival also sounds interesting, I just haven't heard about it before. Not sold on The Chew, but otherwise it sounds like a great deal to me.

If you're into zombies, you can also get two volumes of The Walking Dead in addition to the previous comics if you pay $15.

As you may know from my past comments, I'm not a big comic reader (outside of manga), but I decided to check out the comic book section of the Google Play store, and they have some cool stuff there.

They have a few free issues, and since it seemed like the best of the free bunch, I downloaded 1001 Arabian Nights: the Adventures of Sinbad #0. It did it's job setting up the story, though I don't think I'll be buying newer issues. Nice for a free download though.

As for paid comics, the Godzilla, Mega Man & Sonic lines look cool, but I'll probably hold off for now.

Well, Original Life is on indefinite haitus because the author felt that doing a witty, sfw slice-of-life comic "wasn't him", and he wanted to focus on "other projects"...in otherwords more porn...I guess I can catch up with that one at my leisure, at least...

It's really frustrating, since while SoL comics are abundant, it's tough to find ones that don't suck...and Original Life was the only one I could find that was at minimum consistantly entertaining, if not poignant and even enthralling. Oh well...I guess having the author make something he doesn't enjoy isn't a good thing either, regardless of whether or not other people are enjoying it...

I just discovered The Hiveworks and Tapastic, both of which are basically hubs/online publishers for various comics. I've seen that before with The Katbox and Snafu Comics, as well as Penny-Arcade's partners. I always thought this was a great idea to have some sort of conglomeration of talent in the Webcomic world, without going to the extent that websites like Xepher.net and Smackjeeves.com where they're just hosting sites. It seems easier to view and sort through various comics to see what's worth checking out, at least on Hiveworks, and I felt there was a lot I was tempted to read. I don't understand Tapastic's archiving, though. Seriously, how I do I jump to the oldest page? And how can I tell how old a page is so I can see how frequently the artist has been updating lately?

Is anyone reading the new Star Wars Comics? (StarWars, Princess Leia, Darth Vader)? They have all been pretty good thus far.

Oh! and I picked up Howard the Duck #1 the other day as a joke- but I found myself actually enjoying it, and anticipating the second issue.

The movie Howard the Duck was a terrible adaption, but I hear the comic it's based on is indeed really good. I should check it out myself someday...

The comic reboot just started and there is only 1 issue right now.

Pick it up while it's fresh!

Will also be posting this in the furry thread:

I read a comic called Sabrina-Online. I was kind of reading it out of morbid curiousity, since it's technically the comic that spawned Zigzag, the unofficial mascot of the whole furry fandom...and yeah, judging from the "supplimentary material" she's...just as bad as you would expect a Furry Fandom mascot to be. Needless to say, I was expecting the worst from her source comic...

...but it actually wasn't that bad. It's not great, but it's a fun slice-of-life comic with an arching story and some mildly believable characters and silly but largely relatable situations, even if it clearly dates itself. I should mention that it actually started out as an Amiga fan comic, and was published in fan magazines for a few years. It also spends a good deal of time establishing the characters before it gets into the whole "The main character is a graphic designer for an X-rated studio" part. And yeah, Zigzag is definitely not the main character, if anything she's an antagonist, a source of occasional angst for the real main character, Tabitha. ZZ is at least initially portrayed as legit crazy, too. I can't tell what she's thinking, but she's obviously scheming something. Overall, the comic is more about a geeky girl named Tabitha and the funny little things that happen throughout her life than it is about the going-ons of a porn studio run by a crazy woman.

Buuut, I already know it won't last. I skimmed the latest chapters a few months ago, and I honestly didn't even see Tabitha in a single one of them, but I saw a whole lot of Zigzag. And even in where I currently am in the comic (1999), her schemes seem to involve sexual harassment, and the comic itself, even outside of the "studio" seems to be getting racier, so I'm probably going to be dropping it soon. Yet still, I had fun for a good 100 or so strips, and I'm glad I got to satisfy my curiousity. TBH, I don't find a lot of good slice-of-life comics with an actual story to it, but I always treasure them when I do find one, and this will likely be no different.

This section should be merged with the Anime/Manga/Animation/Graphic novels section. I mean that is my opinion on the subject. Else...checkout

"ErrantStory" by Michael Poe. I have been following his work since "ExploitationNow" and "Babylon Jones". Personally I miss when he works was more open, and pleasant and had all kinds of crazies around the corner,

"Everything Jake". Typical college comic, got into drama but it got into more.

"Sex and Violence" while the name implies the obvious that is not what it is about. It is about a guy who reprogrammed this robot to be an assassin. I can't remember the name of the other Comic to this ( which is more of an funny rather action but the adventures of "Ajax" ( if you can remember what that means ) is funny. They have tons of crazy characters. Also to note that all the human characters in this comic seems to be unhappy, but is nicely drawn. I wish he would make an damn print.
Also checkout "WonderMomo". It has an comic??? ( IDK if it is official ) that is based off the game itself, which most likely inspired "Metroid".

Checkout GaMEr TrEcK dot com

I apparently didn't mention it here, but I was pretty intimidated by the thought of having to go through 571 strips just to get caught up with this comic, especially since it is sort of story oriented. There are "arcs", some of which lead into eachother, so I can't skip around. But at the same time it makes it very addicting to read. I'm up to page 169 in 3 sittings, and just today I read 90 strips in a row. I'll probably read a few more later, too, since I'm getting close to the arc I left off in last time I read it, and was a really interesting one, with a different tone than the rest of the comic. Basically, one of the minor characters gets glasses, and turns into Lex Luthor-style super villain, with lots of Super Hero homages and tropes, as well as subversions. It was really cool, and I've been looking forward to seeing how it ended.

Not a big comic guy at all. But found a comic shop in my city that I visited once ago. It is awesome with a crap ton of comics (and even manga!).

Now I'm interested in Giant Days. Unfortunately I didn't pick anything up since I forgot my wallet, but I learned of a lot of new series I want to read. Giant Days was the first one that grabbed my attention. The cover art is gorgeous and the characters look like very fun girls you'd get attached to. A witty coming of age first year college story doesn't sound too interesting, especially with how often it's done, but the art and writing are great. I'll have to pick it up when I come back if they have vol. 1.

Also saw they carry the Rick and Morty comic! One page in and the spirit of the characters are perfectly intact lol. I love everything about this show so I'll be sure to get it.

Damn, I miss old Penny Arcade. There was a period between 2002-2009 or 10 where PA would just be hilarious. It still had quite a few bad strips during that period, but when it was good, it was great, and it rarely was just one great, they would have spurts that would last two weeks or more where they would consistantly nail it with spontaneous and creative jokes and situations. But now the highs don't seem to go as high, nor do they last nearly as long. I was trying to enjoy the latest stint, since it was the first time in a long while where the comics were good for 10 strips again...and all I had to do was hit the random button to find a bunch of old comics that blew the new ones I just read out of the water. What the hell happened? Where'd the creativity go? Why do they make so many strips that rely on obscure in-jokes and thorough knowledge of the games they're talking about?* Why do so many punchlines have to involve Tycho's lust for animals?!

...I guess this is what the Simpsons fans feel like...

*seriously, I know their schtick is that they're a gaming webcomic, but you're going to make a joke, you need context to set it up right. Look at this Monday's strip: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2015/05/25/cardophilia

If you didn't play The Witcher (I know I haven't), I can't see how you would get that. A little context would've made that work so much better. What is that card? Why does he want it? That face is too weird to give any kind of context on it's own, so I can't really tell what the punchline was...

Now look at this one from 2008: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/04/02/nested-ironies

That one works fine, since they give you the freakin' context. What's the irony? That he's being "Peacebonded" so that he won't hurt people with a gun that can heal people and make them invulnerable. I honestly have go so long since Team Fortress 2 registered in my brain that I couldn't even remember what character he was referencing, but I didn't have to. They set up the situation so it still worked without prior knowledge of the referenced material. That's a solid comic, and Penny Arcade used to be pretty good at doing stuff like that.

Pardon the triple post, but I read all of Lylat Legacy today, at least what they had on Duckcomics. I think they have some more pages on Tumblr to read through, but I gotta find them first...I hate how disorganized most tumblrs are.

Anyways, it's a fan adaption of the Star Fox series, and it's been pretty cool so far. Mostly it's been going through the characters' backstories, but I like that. I was afraid at first that they'd forgotten Star Fox was a mercenary group, but they worked it in midway through Chapter 2. That said, the art's obviously the star of the show. It's freakin' gorgeous, IMO. Everything's well drawn, the framing's varied and always works, and the use of color is always very pleasing to me for some reason. This is more or less the Star Fox comic I always wanted to read. ^_^ If you liked the Star Fox games, I definitely recommend giving it a look.

While Omahdon and his group might've stopped adapting VG Cats into motion comics, I did out that others have done their own adaptions, including one that adapted strips #334-336 (2 B A Master, Comedy, and Epilogue), which were the ones I most wanted to see. They did a pretty good job, too. Really made my day, since it's a nice little arc, as well as a refreshing change of pace for the comic.

Giant Days Orientation Edition, which is the first two volumes in one, came in the mail today! I read it in about 30 minutes. I've heard quite literally nothing but praise for the series, I think I only ever saw one low scored review. So I was pretty excited!

It wasn't disappointing! The artwork is so nice! I love the use of colors. Really makes the world seem alive. The characters are great and have their own quirks too. Daisy has to be my favorite.

Writing itself is entertaining. The jokes are pretty funny. The volumes end on interesting enough cliff hangers too, which is definitely not something I expected. I'm sold. I want to get volume three already.
