There was a gaming pet peeves thread and I was just going to post to it and it was removed. I want to change it a bit and discuss pet peeves with actual games not with how people act when you are playing them.

Games that have story elements directly ripped from obvious movies. Example the original Call of Duty had most of it's plot ripped directly from various modern WW2 movies throughout the campaign. Enemy at the Gates for the Russian Campaign, Saving Private Ryan & Band of Brothers from the American, and at least another one or two. It was still a solid game but the second Call of Duty was at least somewhat original. Fear also used a freakish girl much like the one from the Ring. It's just off putting when video games can't come up with original ideas and it goes right along with the video games aren't art discussion of a year or so ago.

I hate when games are dumbed down for people who seemingly have never played video games before. boss weak points highlighted, simplified controls like Zelda's "action" button, lot's of hand holding.

Gaming cliches. Overly testosterone enhanced male protagonists, and scantily clad women heroine's. As much as I like scantily clad women I can use my imagination. Put some jeans and a t-shirt on her instead of a leather bathing suit. Also overly dark and destroyed environments. I still like the post apocalyptic style but it honestly doesn't need to be in every game. Losing all your inventory part way through the game or starting off at full power to get a taste of it and losing it at the end of the first area. Swearing & Violence just for the sake of it, it always makes me cringe and feels forced. There are some good games that feature these elements but I'd probably prefer them if they didn't.

Death on spikes, I feel that they're really cheap and unfair (the most prominent of examples being Super Castlevania IV). The only game where I didn't mind dying on spikes was The Lost Vikings.

To each their own

SonicMaster

oh, and long intros. i just wanna get into the game!

SonicMaster

Punny

For shooting games, using a weapon that is making you an unstopable force to be reckoned with, then accidentally grabbing an item that is far worse. That and long loading times.

I'm back (for the moment)!
