Gametrailers was one of the first video game-specific websites I used to visit back in the day. They hosted most of Screwattack's content back in the day including the latest AVGN episodes that I would tune in to every other Thursday. In later years they had shows like Pop Fiction (although it's been dormant for two years now) and Final Bosman, not to mention their usual countdowns and the extensive E3 coverage. No reason has been given for the closing, but it's very unfortunate that it has come to this.
The only thing surprising about it is that it took them at least 2 years with dead website with barely any userbase to come to a conclusion to shut down.
Man, they were not as bad as some sites. They even did ethical disclosure. I kind of enjoyed it, I guess the fact that multiple cable services don't even host Viacom anymore. It can be that their viewership went down the tubes?
That's a bummer. They had one of the few podcasts that I would actually listen every week. Final Bosman was also a funny show, and I enjoyed most of their reviews and trailer reviews. Hope they somehow find a way to continue their YouTube content.
This is sad. I've never visited their website, but I love watching their countdown & pop-fiction videos on YouTube (even if it's been awhile since they posted any new videos in the latter).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I use to watch them a few years ago but after AVGN put all of his content on his own channel and after they stopped doing pop fiction I just stopped going there myself.
