Topic: Games You Want To See As Movies

basically, title says it all. just a place for you to talk about games you want to get the hollywood treatment. sure, some (most) are awful, but assuming it's done right, what game(s) would you most like to see become movies. for me, my top three i think would be awesome:

Contra (sure, there's no real story, so the movie would have little to do with the game, but mix Terminator, Rambo, and Aliens, and i think you've pretty much got a blockbuster)

Beyond Good and Evil (this one i'm iffy on, but is has such a great story and immersive world and lovable cast that i'd watch it on opening night and then buy the DVD even if it sucked)

Fire Emblem (i'm specifically thinking the Radiance games. think Lord of the Rings... but with people who turn into tigers, hawks and dragons. the game's story is SO epic, that movie is instant amazing. i'd just be worried they couldn't include enough of it in a 3-hour movie)

any other game-movie wishes?

Only Beyond Good and Evil would be any good. None of those games other than that one is likely to be made into a movie that is actually any good. I can't think of any games that might make a good movie.

Haven't really taken it under consideration, but I can easily picture anime movies of SoulBlazer and Ys III.

Movies have not been kind to games. The only video game movie I thought was decent was Mortal Kombat. I'll say none for the time being.

To be honest, though, I don't think it can be done with any of these games in a way that would be satisfactory to me personally. I think it would be better if no one even tried to do it, but that's just me.

Halo, and Metroid. Halo is very possible, and Metroid was in development at one point, but the movie rights expired.

indigo Prophecy is basically a movie so they could shot the game frame to frame.

That We Are ODST commercial had me wanting a live action Halo movie.

A Metroid movie done well. I was thinking a bit of Avatar. Exploring her origins with the Chozo people before they all vanished or were destroyed.. Keira Knightly could dye her hair and be Samus (yeah I thought a lot about this, lol). A Zelda game with the epic scale of pirates of the carribean and LOTR would be nice. I feel for a movie they'd have to dig a bit deeper than the typical save the princess and the villain should be a bit deeper than Ganon. Maybe mess with the fiction just a tad and use the Minish Cap villain as Ganon's apprentice to spice things up as opposed to Ezlo.

Basically, none.

Games either have plots which are too weak, too cliched for films.

• The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but if it would be sucky, it would be the greatest act of sacrilege in the history of cinema.
• Chrono Trigger should be an anime.
• Metroid. There were plans for this as it would make for an interesting Sci-Fi movie. The game was inspired by the Alien movie after all.

As for people who suggest Halo, wasn't Lord of the Rings' Peter Jackson working on that one?

Anyway, let's just hope German director Uwe "the new Ed Wood" Boll doesn't snatch any more rights to make movies based around video games even though they've got nothing to do with the actual source material.

Startropics would be a good ol fashioned goonies type experience. But im afraid not enough people would remember anything about it. Blaster Master would be silly fun in movie form. I think personally i would like to see a final fantasy 6 movie.. best story in video game history if you ask me

Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger. Would love to see Metroid of some sort and Ocarina of Time as well.

More than enough story and content to fill a movie, it could be amazing.
