DmC - Devil May Cry
The entire core fanbase was against it, the developer is a jerk to consumers and, well, its not even a good game.

Fling Smash...pretty boring...and probably some of the worst games made for the Wii, which were also the same exact thing over and over again (no plot, same game, different characters)...ANUBIS 2, NINJABREAD MAN and ROCK AND ROLL ADVENTURES. After I received 2 of those games, I never bought or looked at anything with that companies logo on it!
Yoshi's new island. Story pretty much ruined the original one. Abilities not taking advantage of and the final boss is a copout. Screams uninspired. The only thing going for it is some of the music. Note: SOME

The only real power up were in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 where he had pots. In later games like Wario Land Shake it he he didn't have power up but instead items like garlic restored health.
What about Wario Land 4's Zombie and Bloaty phases? What do you call those?
I actually think there are definitely games that shouldn't have been made. Either games that have fundamentally flawed concepts (like the Harry Potter FPS games) or games that should have been scrapped long prior to release (like Daikatana).
That's not to say they shouldn't be replaced by something.

Well yeah, but I feel like the entire point of the thread is retrospective. Knowing what we know now those mistakes shouldn't have happened.

If they didn't happen, someone else would've made those mistakes. We couldn't know not to make those mistakes if they didn't happen. Saying "we should never have made those mistakes!", even in retrospect, just isn't healthy. It defeats the purpose of learning. We should be happy we have examples of "what not to do" in the industry, as it'll only mean good things for us, the consumers.
There's a lot of people who say rather good games that shouldn't be made. DmC, FF13. They're pretty good. W/out FF13, I'd never get 13/2... Even though 13/3 wasn't the best in my view. I won't lie that 13 1-3 had a great amazing story. DmC covered some good holes and was so fun. And did someone say X/Y. I may not enjoy Gen 6 as much as Gen 5 (I'm a Gen 5 glorious master race guy) because of the Mega's mainly, but turning it into 3D modeled game needed to happen. It was worth it. I don't like Cod, but I think it was worth it. Cause people buying it are wasting there money, not us.
I'm just surprised no one said the E.T. games that were dumped into the dessert.

I would agree about NSMB2 but there again I am part of the problem because I bought it with the DLC (The DLC I thought was far better than the main game)
Hey, NSMB2 was a great game! Everything admittedly sucked about the game except Coin Rush mode, which is awesome! New Super Mario Bros. U was the one that had nothing new about it.
The one that comes to my mind right now is Batman Arkham City Origins. To me this just felt like a cash in for the Arkham series almost like WB said oh well Arkham Knight is not going to be out for a few more years let's put this out so the people have some kind of Arkham game to play. Also it felt like the only reason they made it was so they could have Joker again in the series while still giving Mark Hamill's wish to end being the Joker on a high note.
