I wouldn't go so far as to say I "hate" them now, but while I enjoyed them at the time, I can't imagine that I'd have the patience needed to play through any of Rare's collect-a-thon platformers or the Sonic Adventure games now.

Collecting all of those bananas in DK64 is more tolerable when you're 11, and it may be several months until you can reasonably expect to get a new game, than it is when you're in your mid-20s and you have dozens of other, more instantly gratifying games available to you at any given moment.

Platformers.

Here, here! To be honest, I still like platformers a little but, they have just gotten really boring (at least most of them). Hard ones and new platformers are the only ones that can hold my attention for longer (but not that longer). I wanted to enjoy 3D World a lot but it just sucked to me in both Wow and gameplay value. Kirby's Epic Yarn really held together though in my opinion, earning it's spot as one of my favorite platformers.

I think I really loved Mario Tennis (64) as a kid but after playing Open... I'm doubting if my love for Mario Tennis still holds as they're the same core game, except with power shots. (The game wasn't bad as a Tennis game, I just didn't enjoy it as much and as long as I wanted too.

Goldeneye, and to a lesser extent all FPS games. Controls are terrible to me. Most FPS seem lame to me now. Team Fortress is the only one I still kind of enjoy because I am not as good at it, or that it is a better team style game. I like being engineer. COD/Battlefield style games have so many terrible players. I only play them once or twice a year with an old college buddy and am astounded that I dominate almost always, and I have come to realize I am not that good of a gamer after seeing real gamers play at retro tournaments and so on.

Gotta catch them... eh, nevermind.

Dreamz

Elevator Action. I used to play it all the time with my older brother when I was 6ish, but I recently played the game and definitely don't feel it's stood the test of time.

I have actually just come to like the Zelda series. I have owned every Nintendo Zelda game and always I have started them and quit within 5-6 hours. WWHD came out when I actually had time to game with some health issues, and boy has it set me down a Zelda path. Now I love them. Also I never played the Mario games (except 3) for more than a level or two, but now I can't get enough of them, VC or new. I guess I am backwards. As a kid I mainly played RPG's (and still do, DW 1-IV were the best) so I guess that has helped me out these days.

Gotta catch them... eh, nevermind.

Shadow the Hedgehog was that game.
It was the first time I played a game with gritty elements towards it. And the first with a branching storyline. But to be fair, I do wish a new Sonic game had a branching storyline as well. Generations would have been pretty interesting with one.
Going back to it today, there were plenty of frustrating elements. Starting with combat. Missions were also frustrating at times. I never like the multiplayer then, but I tolerated it then.
I don't want to call this game a piece of trash, but it's definitely not my "favorite game of all time" like I might have said before when I was 8.

This is basically me.
