Topic: Games you like, but people hate?

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames for the 360.

Even though it had some flaws, it was still really fun to play. A lot of people hated it though.

Kirby's Dream Land 3 - it oozes with so much charm and is harshly judged in my opinion. Sure, it's not as good as Superstar, but that is a game of a class equal to the very best SNES games.

Seriously, Metacritic? I support your premise, but I don't think Metacritic speaks much for the gaming community. Like at all.

Actually this topic seems to be more about perception, whether the people "around you" (Internet people?) feel positively about a given title.

Wait, people don't like kid icarus uprising? One of my favorite games.

I think it has to do with the default controls, but if you take two seconds and switch the aiming reticle to a/b/x/y and the movement of Pit to the analog stick, the game works like a charm, as good as your gonna get without dual sticks.....

Arc Style: Solitaire - Reviews, particularly the NL review, absolutely slammed this game, & I can't figure out why. No, it's not an amazing game by any stretch of the imagination, as it's about as a no frills Solitaire game as you can find, but if that's all you're looking for, it does it's job. The review claimed that both the physical & touch control schemes were broken, but after many hours of play, I have yet to run into even a small hiccup. I feel like the game was bashed because it's small, something no one was looking forward to, and figured they'd get more hits on the review if they turned it into one of those "this game is hilariously bad" reviews.

Samurai Warriors: Chronicles - This series gets bashed a lot, but this was my favorite 3DS launch title (even moreso than SSFIV3D), and it kept me busy for a long time.

No, people do like this game. Many people even think it's the best 3DS game. I don't know why it was posted here.

Metroid Other M - I consider Other M better than the Prime Trilogy games, and one of the best Metroid games released. Overall, it would probably be my 5th favorite in the series.

Metroid Prime Hunters - My favorite game of the Metroid Series easily, Metroid Prime Hunters is unrivaled in gameplay depth and atmospheric depth in my opinion within the franchise.

Metroid and Metroid II - I don't know if people dislike these games as much as they're apathetic towards them to really give them discussion. I don't think either game has aged outside of lacking an in-game map, but I do feel that both games are fantastic today with a printed map. I honestly prefer Metroid over Retro's Prime Trilogy games.

Super Mario Sunshine - Seems kind of love/hate, but I do not think the Super Mario name will ever have as much personality again. The atmosphere of Isle Delfino is one of the best Nintendo has created.

While there are Negative Nellies about Kid Icarus Uprising and all the Zelda games, they're still overwhelmingly loved titles (or when it comes to Kid Icarus, lefties)

I also enjoyed Yoshi's Island DS

I personally love Other M - it's my second favorite Metroid game.

A few points of note:

1. Varia Suit: A simple matter of story timing conflicting with gameplay timing. I just shrugged it off as the heat not being much of an immediate threat until the volcano upped the ante. If it was that big of a deal, there was no reason Samus couldn't have simply asked for authorization. She wasn't a fawning wimp, she was just trying to both show respect by following Adam's command.

But I feel it was mostly just a gameplay timing issue - if the suit was authorized at the first sign of heat, there would have been no reason not to have it on from the very start.

2. She's not angsty or easily scared. The Ridley thing is a separate case - she has fully blown PTSD due to watching Ridley munch on her parents like a Twix candy bar when she was a child. Combine that with the fact that she still emotionally traumatized after the stuff on Zebes, and then encounters Ridley, who is supposedly space dust at this point, and you have a great recipe for a major panic attack. The fact that it didn't happen in other games is a moot point as those games had zero story or characterization. Oh, and for the record, the EXACT same thing happened in the Metroid manga. This wasn't a one-time thing.

Lately, I've just been chalking the entire thing up to fans who expected Samus to be some kind of invincible baddonkey. She's not, and for that I'm happy - invincible heroines are boring.

I'll agree that I could have probably worded that better, but still, in this one instance, I personally felt like they were making a big deal out of something that wasn't even there. Now, that may not have been their intention (in fact I'm certain it probably wasn't), but that's what it felt like.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Paper Mario Sticker Star for me... I love those games a lot!

Need For Speed Most Wanted (2012) I heard that the reason most people hate it is because it is too much like burnout. I never really played Burnout before so it felt pretty new to me. I am (like most people) infact am pissed off about the whole no customization though. (visually!!)

ZombiU also seems to get reactions; I personally love it, though - way better than RE.

Final Fantasy VIII, and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. I can definitely see where people are coming from with some of the criticism, but I think overall they're both very enjoyable games.

I thought that Sonic Lost World was an OK game.
