Prince of Persia Warrior Within and Two Thrones. Great games...that I'll never play again. The worst thing that could happen to you was to rewind at the exact moment of your death, meaning that everytime you rewind again, you just see yourself die over and over, not being able to go back in time enough to save yourself. Great gameplay, beautiful graphics for it's time, good length and really fun battles.

Devil May Cry 3... Same as above. Virgil is a pain the butt. But then again Agnis and Rundra are a pain the butt... And then I remember that everything is a pain in the butt when it comes to this game. Really fun though.

Dark Souls 3. Pretty pathetic, I know, especially since I only managed to get partway through the Undead Settlement area. I'm trying to work up the energy to play that game again, but I find it so incredibly frustrating. I think it's just a matter of getting past that initial learning curve, especially since it's my first Souls game.

Dark Souls. Obvious. I am sad that I don't have the time or patience to git gud, but I'd prefer to make progress in a game in less than 5 hours.

A few of the obvious NES ones, though I'll certainly try again with some of them. Castlevania 3, especially. The last level hates you.

Jet Force Gemini...still can't beat the final boss. Last boss on Soul Calibur III's single player mode... (i feel like if he looks at me I lose half my health).

I have beaten Jet Force Gemini, somehow. It has to be in my top 5 for toughest final bosses.

Gauntlet for NES. Even with passwords, this game is about impossible for me to beat. @The_Shpydar and @ogo79, your thoughts on this brutal game?

i cannot fully remember my total experience with gauntlet for nes while i would rent it.
i know it was hard.
i do remember playing gauntlet 4 for genesis and it being way too much for my feeble brawler/beat em up/hack n slash bird brain to handle.

@kkslider5552000 I'll go back eventually but the last time I played I spent about 3 hours on it and after hand cramps and a few tears of frustration (I'm not usually bothered by much so, yeah) I just had to put it away for a few years. I'm planning on going retro (really working down my backlog) next year so hopefully then I shall triumph.

Still working on the Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen boss but I that is more of a I got bored with the grinding rather than a I can't beat it sort of thing...I gotta dig up my 360 and get back to that.

I wouldn't say Zelda 2 was hard, I just didn't care for that game. Whenever I gave that game a chance I'd quit like 10 minutes into the game. Yeah, I didn't like that game at all.

There's Champions Road in 3D World as something that's ridiculously difficult. My brother and I spent about 400 lives trying to complete that level with Peach and Rosalina.
I'm not even going to bother clearing that level with Mario, Luigi, and Toad. No way in heck.

God first.

Super star wars. It was kind of a great game but too hard for a child. Only managed to get into the pub.

Star wars shadows of the empire. Good atmo but also too hard. Last thing i remember is a dumping ground and a robot.

Star wars roque squadron rebel strike. Im sure i only managed to beat a few level.

@Meowpheel
You know the worst thing about Metroid? Whenever you lose, you start again with a tiny amount of health, and if you are in a particularly difficult area, you have to grind for health items before you can carry on. I doubt I'll ever finish it either.

Bubsy on the Megadrive was another one - the character has too much inertia, and it was a poor imitation of a Sonic the Hedgehog game, especially with the one hit deaths. The nimations were nice though.

Bart's Nightmare for the SNES - not really a typical game, but a series of minigames. I lost my patience with it because I was unable to clear a single one, and getting into them by spawning a homework page seemed to be a nightmare of it's own.

Finally, though I haven't played much of it yet, I also own The Pagemaster for the SNES, and I hear it's notorious for its difficulty when it comes to finding all of the pages and earning the true ending. From what I did play, it was tricky to control, so I'm sure it's going to be great fun trying to get through that one.

All of these games have one thing in common - I didn't explicitly seek to buy them - Metroid was one of the 3DS ambassador games, while the others were bundled with a Megadrive and SNES I bought respectively.

@KirbyTheVampire if you're playing on PS4 I could give you a hand as a summon if you like. Generally rubbish at hard games but for some reason the Souls/borne series and Nioh really clicked with me and I've beat them all so far.

I recently bought Mega Man Legacy Collection, having never played Mega Man before. So far I've only played MM1, and I got as far as the Yellow Devil boss fight (with save states), but I don't think I'll ever be able to win that fight.

Doom II on Nightmare. The enemies re-spawn after 8-10 sec, so you have to keep on running. I remember playing on my laptop back in 1995, while doing my thesis for Master's Degree. It was 2:00 in the morning, my girlfriend sleeping and I yelled after finally finishing a level. My girlfriend woke up and threatened to destroy my laptop with all my research. I gave up until after I finished my thesis.

Honorable mention goes to Dead Space 2 (Hard Mode), where I got stuck in an unwinnable situation (low health, few bullets), facing lots of baddies. Tried like 20-25 times and just gave up.

Hoping to finish Zelda II one of these days. The original TMHT/TMNT is hard, especially the inside of the Technodrome - I've only finished that game with save states. And I've never been able to finish Champion's Road on Super Mario 3D World.

There are so many for me!
I always struggled with Monster Hunter Tri's Great Jaggi - embarassing I know. Also No More Heroes latter boss "Bad Girl" was too much for me.

I didn't get past more than a few levels on Ikuruga on Gamecube. Did anybody manage to complete this?

For me to overcome something I first need to have a reason to. In the case of games, they need to be fun as well.

Me undarstan gaem. Gaem just no fun. Me ignore gaem.
