What are games you like in a genre that you typically don't like or are indifferent too.
Not a biggest fan of shooters, but i love me some Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon...oh and if Uncharted counts, then yeah.
Traditional 2-D Fighting games are not my sort of thing for now i'm warming up to them pretty quickly though, but i enjoy the Marvel series, Street Fight Alpha 3, Tatsunoko, and Capcom vs. SNK 2.
Same for me. I don't like RPGs but I really like Pokemon. I've never played a Mario and Luigi game, but I enjoyed the Dream Team demo so I would probably like that game as well.
I usually hate FPS but Steel Diver:Sub Wars, Goldeneye 007, Red Steel 2, Team Fortress 2 and the whole Metroid Prime series are something else.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I have a bit of a boom-or-bust relationship with puzzle games. Most of the time I'm ready to play something different within a half hour, but when I actually do get into a puzzle game, I become borderline obsessed. Picross DS was the hardest I've ever been bitten by the puzzle bug; I'm not kidding when I say I was dreaming of grids and numbers for several months. I've also had similar, briefer stretches with Peggle and Tetris.
I'm also not into the FPS genre at all, but I love the Half-Life series and the Metroid Prime trilogy (that is, if you even consider the latter to be a FPS series - I generally don't).
I like saying I hate Hex based SRPG's, but I've tolerated all the ones I've played so far. Except for the Fire Emblem games. I think I usually play them as grindy RPG's instead of strategy games though.
I also dislike crime based open world games (so basically all open world games lol) but I liked Sleeping Dogs because Hong Kong is just too fun to explore. I think I'd like open world games where you're accountable for your actions, not one where you can blow up cops and run off scot free five minutes later.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
@Jollykarp, if you want to play an open world game where you're not playing as a criminal, how about some of the superhero open world games, like the Batman Arkham series, or InFamous (though you can choose to be the bad guy in the latter, you can just as easily be the hero).
Also, Red Dead Redemption (which I'm playing now) also has you in the role of a generally good guy. Yes, he has a troubled past, but has turned a new leaf, and is now working as a bounty hunter for the government trying to bring an outlaw to justice (and the one thing he wants more than anything else is to be done with all the killing and settle down with his family). While you can commit crimes (though criminal activity is entirely optional), you actually get a bounty put on your head if you do so (meaning the law & other bounty hunters will come after you), and it'll only go away if you pay your debt to society (by either paying the fine, or by turning yourself in, where you'll spend a few days in jail).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
That's like those people who don't like anime but love Cowboy Bebop...
Anyway, I'm not a big strategy gamer (I like them ok, but I'm terrible/too impatient) but I love Advance Wars and Final Fantasy Tactics. Also not that into rhythm games but the goofy japanese attempts at them genuinely make me happy (especially Rhythm Heaven).
also not a GTA or Western movie guy, yet I love Red Dead Redemption.
not a cover shooter guy but I like Mass Effect (implying people care about Mass Effect for the gameplay, ha)
I like things that are awesome regardless of genre I guess?
to a lesser extent, fighting games and Smash Bros/Soul Calibur
There's another genre I dislike. I love racing, but only Arcade-style racing for me. My top three are TrackMania, Mario Kart, and Ridge Racer. Games without vehicle damage, have crazy stunts, and are purely about going fast and having fun!
