How about FIFA?

@RedDevilAde Have you played Smash with friends/family? It's a lot more fun if you don't just play by yourself.

A few times and its fun in a chaotic kind of way, but I've had better experiences on other multiplayer games which are chaotic in a similar way:

  • Powerstone
  • Goldeneye 64
  • Mario Kart (various)
  • Bomberman (various)
  • Fire Pro Wrestling: 6MS
  • Death Tank Zwei

I'd put all of those above Smash Bros.

Kirby Super Star. I honestly can't see how anyone could like this game. It reminds me of those bootlegged "10 games in 1" games that you'd occasionally find on Ebay.

Majora's Mask. Why everyone loves this game out of nowhere is beyond me. It wasn't popular back when it was released and it was the black sheep of hte zelda franchise (overtaking Zelda 2)

@TheGreatBrawler Yeah, that too. 99% of my friends love the game, but I can't get into it, even if I know how to play the game.
Updated list:

  • Xenoblade Chronicles
  • Paper Mario
  • FIFA/PES/Mario Strikers
  • Kirby and the Amazing Mirror: First Kirby I could not get into.
  • Some older Zelda titles in the series such as Zelda 2
  • Older Fire Emblem games

God first.

Mario Strikers is actually more different from FIFA than you think.

Seems like people are answering a different question.

Games that you don't like that other people do.

I know why people like Fifa even though I don't like it. They want the equivalent of watching a TV football game but where they can make their team always win.

I presume the reason people like Captain Toad is they don't like variety and prefer games to be doing the same thing most of the time. (I would rather have played the entirety of 3D World as Captain Toad).

I get that it's a charming game, but I think it's a slow and dumb-downed puzzle game with limited control. Should have been 3D World DLC, or an eShop title. I would never pay $60 for that and I don't know how anyone could play it without getting bored.

I also don't care about Toad, at all, and I don't really get all the love for him.

But if people like it, then they like it, and that's ok! It's been one of the most hyped up Wii U games lately but I see almost zero appeal in it.

That's why it's priced at $40.

Just want to add; the DLC argument is stupid; Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is not at all similar to 3D World, even the Captain Toad levels from 3D World are nothing like the actual game. DLC doesn't make sense at all. I don't get it either why some wish for games to be eShop exclusive.

My mistake, sorry, I forgot that it was $40. After typing that I realized it didn't sound right. (I still think it's too much and I wouldn't pay it myself)

When I said DLC, I meant extra Captain Toad levels you can download and play in 3D World. Either that, or a separate eShop title at a cheaper price. Just makes more sense to me than a retail game.

But I'm not really trying to make any arguments here... I was just asked why I don't get why people like it, the whole point of the thread.

I personally don't understand the hype that Monster Hunter gets.
I just tried the demo for MH4U and just couldn't enjoy it at all..

I wish for them to be eshop exclusive as they end up cheaper. Compare say Nes Remix 1 & 2 eshop with Ultimate NES Remix Retail for example.

DLC tends to be cheaper than a full game as well for the same amount of content (See NSLU / MK8).

(Obviously NSMB2/Fire Emblem Awakening style DLC can be bad but recently it has tended not to be).

I'm glad they added a tutorial this time around for the demo, but it still doesn't do the best job of explaining what to do. If you put enough time into Monster Hunter AND have friends that you like to hunt with, it can be a lot of fun, but not very fun if you are lacking either of those things.

Hehe, everything about this post made me laugh. I agree, I just don't get MM love. Sure it's different (which is cool), but I just don't understand the annoying dugneons, 'meh' bosses, and the carbon copy cast from OoT that get so much praise. Reminds me of hipster beers that people drink just because there's an exclusive society that thinks they're cooler for drinking it (even though it's Coors in a a fancier can).

And yeah, even if Captain Toad isn't your thing, how can you NOT understand how cute Toad and Toadette are? People love cute things .

And Earthbound. I get the style and humor are great, but Earthbound is just so horrendously JRPG Vanilla when it comes to gameplay. Boring, graphically unrewarding battle system? Check. Boring dungeons? Check. Annoying, game-breaking status effects that make you redo an entire dungeon? Check. Seizure-inducing special attack animations? Check. Poor shop mechanics? Check. Atrocious and boring customization? Check. Like I said, I get one half of it (story, style, etc.), but I don't understand the "best game evarrrr!!!1" claims when the GAME parts are boring...

NES Remix = $14.99; NES Remix 2 = $14.99; and the NES Remix Pack is $29.99. Unless I'm missing something, they are the same price, right?

I agree that DLC is usually cheaper, well in case of Mario Kart 8, but I don't think we would've gotten the amount of content that Captain Toad offers if it was just DLC. After all, it's an entire 15-20 hour adventure.

I just find the combat very slow. None of my friends play or even own a 3ds, I bought my other half one for her birthday but she only enjoys puzzle games and Tetris so i doubt she will be hunting monsters with me any time soon. As for time I am very lacking so no perhaps it isn't a game for me!
