Hey everybody. i do a lot of long distance driving these days, what with me going home to see my girlfriend almost every week an hour and a half away, so i've been thinking i need some new music to listen to in my car, and would love to get a few videogame soundtracks. i've heard FFVII is amazing... any other recommendations?

Well, I don't think this has been released in stores or anything, but the soundtrack to Baten Kaitos, both Eternal Wings and Origins, are absolutely amazing. My favorites from these games would have to be "Beyond the Borders of Wind and Earth" and "Lull in the Wind." Don't forget To Zanarkand from Final Fantasy X. That one's great.
If you go to VGMusic.com you can find a bunch of music from different games. You don't have to worry about legality issues or anything here as all of the music is recreated by other users using a sound program. So none of it is actually official, but some of the tunes still sound really good.
Heh, so maybe I'm not so good as to what soundtracks you can get, but I do know a few songs. =)
Shanghai Advance for the GBA is really good, but you'll need to do realtime audio capture from your headphone jack since it was never released separately.
Secret of Mana had a killer soundtrack! Final Fantasy VII, anything from OCREMIX and Super Castlevania IV was really supurb for SNES...Look up Mario Media...They have some of these there.........
A Link to the Past Chrono Cross Final Fantasy VI Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy IX Megaman 2 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Donkey Kong Country Perfect Dark Super Mario World Opoona Kirby's Dreamland Dragon Quest The Windwaker Super Mario Picross Star Fox Assault Yoshi's Island Megaman Legends Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Streets of Rage 2 Ocarina of Time
This is just the tip of the iceberg, but these are some of the best. All of the Final Fantasy piano collections are really good, especially IV and VIII. Also, Ocarina of Time: Hyrule Symphony, is probably my favorite album.
I remember back in the Playstation 1 days you could put the game CD into your CD player and if you skipped past the first track or two which were the actual game data you could listen to all the tracks from the game, this may be a option for you for FF7 if you can get your hands on a copy.
Mario Galaxy (if you have the cash) World of Goo (free) Cave Story (free) Mega Man 9 (if you have the cash) Any game from the disc based 16-bit era (turbografx 16 and Sega Cd)
Best thread ever
