There's good games. Lots and lots and lots of good games. And then there's games that cement themselves in your mind as being truly awesome. The pivoting point between the two tends to be one moment of spectacular design, that "oh /GOD/ now it's wonderful" switch. It manifests itself in many forms - a great bit of music, a particularly badass boss fight, an insane plot twist, or just the feeling that no matter how deep you dig, the game is still just that bit deeper than you'd imagined it to be (lookin' at you, Monster Hunter Tri). So post the moments that made a game legendary to you. I'll start:
I'LL GO AHEAD AND POST A POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING FOR THE WHOLE THREAD, IF YOU HADN'T FIGURED THAT OUT YOURSELF BY NOW
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story: First time Bowser goes giant and the ensuing battle.
Okami: First time you cleanse an area of evil and you get that spectacular transition. Also the sountrack. All of it. Especially this track.
Pokemon Gold/Silver: "Hey, do you know what you just did? You took your first steps into Kanto! Check out your PokeGear map and see!" No wait... what?
Monster Hunter Tri: As I mentioned above, damn game keeps tripping me up because I keep thinking it's less deep than it is. Also, every area has one or two 'wow' areas - the views from Area 1 in both Moga Woods and Sandy Plains, the underground lake and huge waterfalls in Flooded Forest.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass During that one puzzle where you press the two maps together. I closed it, thinking it wouldn't do any good, then I opened it to that glorious jingle and thought to myself, "By God, I love this game!"
I'm working on a game that's coming out soon! Cipher Trailer
Super Mario Galaxy: Playing it for the first time and seeing how surprisingly epic it is. The World Ends with You: The opening sequence and the dialog. It just dragged me in! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Pulling the Master Sword and playing all the events after that, side quests included. Super Metroid: Finding the item that you need, thus feeling a great sense of accomplishment.
Dead Rising: Throwing a pie at a zombies face. That was the moment I realized "My god, I can do anything I want!"
Resident Evil 4: Getting your first headshot. Oh my god was it glorious.
GTA4: Hitting an oncoming car whilst riding a motorcycle for the first time, and then flying off, bouncing across the road and then hitting another oncoming car, splattering blood on it and then getting back up like nothing happened.
Goldeneye: Paintball mode.
Turok 2: Cerebral Bore.
Link to the Past: The opening scene. That 3D Triforce is mind blowing.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
@BleachFan888 In Phantom Hourglass I did that by acident I was playing it and i was so mad and it was getting late so I closed it and when i opened it in the morning guess what happened?

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates: The first cut scene where Cu Chaspel reports to the heirophant Galdes. Epic! Plus the storyline, great battles and wonderful music! Animal Crossing: Wild World: Everything that includes fireworks!
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle - The first stage and cutscenes of Light and Dark modes
Guilty Gear XX # Reload, Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers, King of Fighters '94, King of Fighters 2001, Vampire Savior - The Winky-riffic Win Poses of I-no, Cammy, Mai Shiranui, Angel, and Felicia, repectively. :3
King of Fighters '98 - The first time I pulled off a "Powah Geeza!"
Metal Gear Solid - The battle with Grey Fox (most epic battle ever)
Breath of Fire II - The intro sequence, which was the first time I had ever been really drawn into the story of an RPG.
Shining Force - The first time I met a Yogurt...along with all the other completely random events, like when that kid tipped a cow.
Pikmin - The first time I led a charge of red Pikmin against one of the Big Red Beetle dog things.
Okami, Chibi-Robo - The first time I made one of the characters happy.
Kingdom Hearts - The beginning where you're chased by an endless torrent of bad guys, and I beat down every one that dared show their face.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - When I beat Agnihm, only to realize it wasn't the end of the Game.
Mega Man 2 - The first time I beat a boss and stole the enemy's power
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - My First Tank battle!
Resident Evil - The first time I killed a Zombie
Halo: Combat Evolved - The first time I Stickied an enemy in a closed off area and got him to blow up his buddies. >:3
Pokemon Blue - The first time I caught a Pokemon, The first time I beat an Onix with a Charmander, the first time my pokemon evolved...the list goes on.
Linkle Liver Story - The main girl's cuteness, and the first time I learned how to dash (and immediately tripped and fell on my face ).
Super Mario Bros. - The first time I got a star and ran all the way to the goal
Persona 2: Innocent Sin - The first time I used "seduce" during a conversation with a demon.
Devil May Cry 3 - The intro scene, where I found myself saying "too bad you can't use those moves in game". Then I started playing, and realized...I COULD! XD
Paper Mario: TTYD: There were so many good moments its hard to point some out... I guess I really liked in the end of Chapter 3 when you become the champion, the mystery has nearly unfolded, and you find out that Grubba is a villain! I also love when you think you have beaten Doopiss, but you realise that he totally tricked you, and you are stuck nameless and without any detail. Really the whole game was full of these moments. They were great.

In Earthbound, when I got to Brick Road.. That was awesome. In Mother 3, when I got to Tanetane Island. Pure genius (and it was hilarious) In Galaxy 2, in Slimy Spring Galaxy, when the whole level in under water, and dark and murking, then you get out of the cave, and there is a brilliant sun shining in the background. Amazing.
