Here's something new: take a fun fact from any game, such as a cameo, reference, or something random from it, and put it here! I'll start with this

Did you know that the reason Samus rolls into a ball is because they didn't have enough sprite room to make her go into a crawling animation?

The characters from Star Fox were added as masks in Majora's Mask.

Cool thread, ryanknight.
Did you know that Ristar was originally gonna be a rabbit with extendable ears? It's true! Don't believe me? Go look it up on Wikipedia if you're highly skeptical.
Also, Ristar was a game done from Sonic Team.

Ooccoo is the little bird that warps you out of dungeons in Twilight Princess. 00CC00 is the hexadecimal colour code for the green of Links tunic in the original Zelda.

In Twilight Princess, when you ask the fortune teller in Hyrule Castle town for your 'love' fortune, her chant is actually "Wait....loading takes a while" spelled backwards.

Nanai is the only town in Breath of Fire where you see a building with a beermug sign. Also regarding Breath of Fire, in the town of Bleak talk to the thief in the back left building; answer him no two times, and then yes, then TA DA!!!!!! Chun Li from Street Fighter 2 appears. Neat cameo there.

Did you know that in Final Fantasy for the NES, there is a tombstone that says "Here lies Link". This only happens on the Japanese version, BTW.

Mr. Nutz for the SNES was done by four people. I'm not kidding, it really was only done by four people. It's amazing considering it's a 16-bit title!

Well if you type a code into your ship anytime after this, You get a hidden Japanese message from Iwata (The President of Nintendo)

Saying,

"Hello, this is Iwata from Nintendo. A president has to take things really seriously, even if it doesn't seem like it. It's understandable if you lose weight from stress...but I get fatter instead. Nobody thinks I'm taking it seriously."

There Is also another code you can type in and if you type this one in you get a message from Miyamoto saying,

"Ah, can you hear me? This is Miyamoto. All of you playing Metroid, can you hear me? Its fun, isnt it? Ive also worked on many [Metroid] games, but this one is the best yet, dont you think? Definitely play it all the way to the end. See you!"

The Programmer's Ending from Chrono Trigger, one of my favorite endings ever, has the staff disguised as characters or enemies. Who doesn't love an ending like that, and you get to be "a Dream Team member" before the credits roll. How fun is that?????

Super Mario Sunshine is the only Super Mario game where Miyamoto is much less involved

You know, I'm actually not surprised. It was very good, one of my favorites, but it felt like it was missing something.

Kirby's Dream Land 3 was the first Kirby game to feature parallax scrolling.

(Wikipedia) Mario first appeared in the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong as a carpenter named "Jumpman", more commonly called "Mr. Video Game" in Japan. During localization of the game for American audiences, Nintendo's warehouse landlord Mario Segali confronted Nintendo's Minoru Arakawa, demanding back rent. After a heated argument and convincing Segali he would be paid, the Nintendo employees opted to name the character in the game Mario after him. Mario's profession as a carpenter was intended to reflect that as a character he was an ordinary hard worker; it was also intended to make it easier for players to identify with the character. After a colleague suggested that Mario more resembled a plumber, Miyamoto changed his profession accordingly and developed Mario Bros., featuring the character in the sewers of New York City.

The Chomp Chomp is something based off Shigeru Miyamoto's nightmare, and they make a cameo appearance in A Link to the Past (SFC, 1991/SNES, 1992) and Link's Awakening (Game Boy Pocket, 1993).

The Legend of Zelda series is based off of Miyamoto's childhood, where he spent most of his time exploring in the woods near his home.
