@Lzeon: Didn't we already have a furry thread? I do remember posting in one before. Then again it might be an old one.

So discussion of sociopolitical issues as they pertain to the gaming industry are pretty much a guaranteed thread lock, but furry stuff is okay?

I think I'm out of these forums. They're in need of some deep, deep reevalution.

@VelvetElvis This thread isn't all that different than the MLP thread, so long as the discussion remains appropriate it's allowed. The reason why we don't discuss politics is personally unknown to me aside from the fact it usually ends in an argument.

Part of having a community is trying to include all groups of people.

@Undead_Terror I wish I knew were Canis was, he was a cool d00d.

Literally my exact feelings. The favoritism is through the roof in here and that's just how they like it. No use coming to Rumorlife anymore.

Well, yeah, no one is actually using the thread. Everyone but the OP is going off topic.

Which reminds me, to discuss anything else we have other threads. Let's move on.

If the thread continues with its intended purpose or dies due to inactivity, let's let it happen naturally.

Bloop.

@Danksparce: That's exactly the reason. Discussions on politics and religion aways deteriate into arguments so they were just not allowed to be discussed here and honestly what reason is there to discuss politics on a video game site.

As for CanisWolfred he posted awhile ago that he was leaving to concentrate on other things, I think at the time he was looking for a job and was planning to move.

It also got weird by the end (and technically the middle), so I'm actually glad that one died, and I now have good reason to never, ever dredge it back up again.

Been a while since I got to talk to anybody about furry stuff (...it doesn't make for a good conversation-starter on most websites, for obvious reasons...). Shame, since I've found some good (clean) stuff while I was away. Mostly Comics and videos.

The main one that sticks out in my head the most was a series called "Djandora", by Jass Befrold. I was gonna link it, but well...let me put it this way: If you ever happen to kill your own father/the only person you ever knew, and perhaps ever will know, and you decide to take it upon yourself to traverse the ancient, crumbling laboratory filled to the brim with automoted sentries that want nothing more than to purge your insides all over the dilapidated infrustructure, as well as ghastly apparitions that may or may not be products of your own wounded psyche, all in order to fullfill his final wish: Make sure to bring an extra set of clothes with you! I mean, you never know when you might find yourself having to bodyslam a giant golem at mach speeds. Because then you're really gonna be wishing there was a GAP within 100 miles in a 3D radius of your vicinity...

That said, at least the main character is always conveniently censored, Adam-'n'-Eve-style. It's only the guest art that shows up every once in a while that's revealing. Still, it's enough that I feel a warning is in order. I read it on Comicsbreak.com, if that helps in looking it up.

I do highly recommend Djandora, even if you're just a fan of French-influenced surrealist sci-fi/fantasy stories with a lonely and foreboding atmosphere. Heck, I'm not even a fan of surrealism, but I feel like it works here, since it reflects the confused state of mind of the sole protagonist. Even if I'm lost from a logical standpoint, I can usually still follow the allegory. Hopefully the author gets around to Chapter 5 soon enough, but it looks like he's gonna busy all summer with his main line of work. Ah well, gives me time to process it, at least.

Yeah, I got like, 8 more comics I could list by now, but...I guess I'll just stick what I came to talk about:

Back in one of the previous Furry-related threads, I was recommended The Furry Experience...so yeah, I finally started reading that. It was nothing like what I expected. I mean, it is a very PG-rated slice-of-life furry comic about college girls and the things that happen there. It doesn't get too caught up in a lot of drama, and it never gets all that angsty or crude, which is a lovely change of pace for me.

However, I do have to mention one thing: the comic is set in Utah, and you know...I've never been to Utah (though, I supposedly have some family from out that way), and I certainly don't know what its like over there, but apparently the comic author is aware of that, and dedicates large portions of its story in order to explain it, particular anything to do with Mormons. In fact, I would go as far as to say this comic is really The Mormon Experience: Furry College Edition in disguise.

It's really starting to get on my nerves, actually. I mean, it clearly tries to present a balanced view of the religion by giving us characters with varying opinions and experiences with the topic - One character grew up with it and hates it (even going so far as to call the Missionary program "brainwashing"), another character grew up with it and loves it (then again, her whole character can be summed up as "naive and sheltered in the most adorable ways possible"), a frequent side-character who is an outsider looking in that's incredibly curious about the religion (albeit, mostly so she doesn't feel so awkward talking to her roommates, who are the Mormoniest Mormons who ever Morm'd), while the most level-headed of the group also isn't a Mormon, but she has family that converted and has grown to tolerate and empathize with the believers. I'm past the 300's now, and they've finally finished covering everyone's opinions and history with the religion, so hopefully that topic can stay on the backburner for a while, now.

I also think it really tries to establish the religion as simply being a strong cultural presence that can't be ignored in their region, however, it still sometimes devolves into a blatant sermon, and that's where I find it to be the most frustrating, since I don't like being lectured to in general, especially stuff that I know I don't really believe in.

It doesn't help that this whole thing is one of the few running plot-threads of what is otherwise an episodic slice-of-life comedy, to such an extent that it may as well be the main plot - yet it is by far the least interesting aspect of the story, at least in my opinion. I generally preferred reading about how Cat mistook a garbage-filled deck for a compost heap, and had been recording a detailed journal on its development before the latest monthly inspection. Or finding out what Bonnie does for a job (it was disappointing in all the right ways), or seeing how amazingly accident-proned Dawn's boyfriend turned out to be (so yeah, he wasn't just asking for pencils so he could be a mooch - he certainly tried to return them...with hilarious results). And I love how endearing it often winds up being. It never focuses on the negatives of life for too long, and like I said, I really needed to read something like this to offset my usual preference for stories of people dealing with pain and other serious struggles in life, both fantastical and not.

...I just wish it didn't feel like I was attending the Sunday School to a church I don't go to, so I could hang out with some cool friends afterwords...
