Free will is a wonderful thing, it grants us the ability to be what ever we want to be. It grants us a wide gamut of opportunities that we would not have access to otherwise. We are granted the ability to choose where we may travel to. We can choose what we would like our occupation to be. We can choose who we keep in our life and to whom we hold dear. With free will comes a broad range of responsibilities. We must govern our thoughts and interactions. Some believe it to be, "keeping up with the Jones'" but others believe it to be common courtesy. How we act is a common covenant to who we are. In most cases, this is a true statement, but have you heard the metaphor, "never judge a book by its cover"? A common misconception among interactions between strangers, especially in a virtual environment as this, is that what one would post and discuss is the entirety of their being. But with many things in life, this is not always the truth. We exhibit many traits and learn new as we grow older. We have the ability to change and evolve as time progresses. Some grow beyond the mindset they have as a youth where others never mature beyond it. For those that mature and grow, they find that ability to house many, many traits and assimilate these traits into their personality. These traits govern who we are and are created through time. A common philosophy is that we all gain three personalities as we grow older, the child, the adult and the parent. As you can image, it takes time to develop these personalities and certain conditions apply. In the end, this group can enjoy the ability to let these personalities, the major groups in their psyche mesh and create a caring and compassionate being. All with the kindness and wonder of a child yet have the common sense and responsibility of and adult and wisdom of a parent. Unfortunately the other group never matures beyond a certain point. They see life from only one view and cannot see beyond it, below it or around it. They are struck with so many questions that start with "why". This group cannot understand nor do they have the compassion to understand others place in life. The meet the world with sarcasm and cynicism. They would rather attack than try to understand. Don't get me wrong, basic questioning applies, but if it is beyond an elementary level, they react with aggression.
The question arises, your topic title is free will, how does any of this apply? Simple, we all have the ability to use our minds. We have ability to think beyond. Free will grants us so much. If you don't know the meaning, I am afraid you never will. It is not something that you can read nor hear, you must know it.
Most of you will not understand this post and I would bet that there will be negative comments. What would surprise me is if any of you read my other post about "Ban Danny August" and read this post and said no, don't leave the forums.
Oh well, that is how I think beyond, I think that maybe just one of you will take everything that you said and wrote and put it aside and say, "hey, we are loosing a member of the forums, wait, don't go."
It has been fun, again, I wish you all the best in life.

Sincerely,
Dan

So are you leaving?

Cause after seeing this most pointless topic I'm not seeing a huge loss.

Yes, now please explain a point to this.

Any point at all.

Hey admins, on my wishlist next to PMs, put down blogs so people stop posting their pointless random thoughts as threads. Maybe all those "Hey ban apples" threads can go there too.

I didn't know what all this was about before reading this, but I went over to the "Ban Danny August" thread to catch up. It doesn't look to me like you've done anything wrong and in fact, this appears to have just been another somewhat insensitive joke thread (too many "ban whoever" threads lately).

Whether you decide to leave as you say or are somehow convinced to stay, I wish you the best. I only hope you grouped me in with Chicken Brutus and Adam instead of the others, as I would like to think I have a relatively open mind and compassion. For the most part, I remain out of the loop on this whole issue.

That's what it is.

Another stupid joke thread and now users are taking them seriously and posting deep psychological responses?

Come on guys. Like 2% of the discussion on this site is about video games. The rest is just random, pointless stuff. And contributing to these "Hey ban this and that" threads aren't helping.

I'm going to have to pop out controversial threads daily just to keep intelligent thoughts rolling.

Wow, I am completely impressed with you. You have actually verbalized, well, typed, my thoughts about 98% of the posts on this forum. You have a extremely valid point and I have to agree 100% with you on that comment. Bravo!

How does this sound? We get back to talking about games, new or old, it doesn't matter?

That's debatable. I think those controversial threads create just as many unintelligent thoughts as the joke threads, but without the benefit of being funny. I still think they'd be okay if you didn't label them in such an opinionated manner. You say you want to start debates, but all you do is start arguments due to your style of writing.

I'll remind you I don't HATE you for that, however much you may think I do. I just wish you'd be at least a LITTLE more sensitive around here, that's all.

Talking about video games is a great idea, but I still like joke threads when they don't go too far (the "ban" series DEFINITELY went WAY too far!). Those threads are what make this forum fun and special for me. If we just went around arguing and/or debating games, it would be no different than any other game site! Well, maybe somewhat more civil, but still kinda boring.

This is the first I've ever heard of that but maybe I can work on it.

That's a great idea.

Now stay here and help me generate some actual discussion. Those "Chicken jokes" and "ban threads" make the forum seem like the kiddie play area as far as gaming forums go.

Well sure they create unintelligent thoughts, few threads don't, but I'd safely say the most intelligent debates in this forum came from users like you and Adam and others in my one thread.

I haven't seen that much thought duplicated in any other threads on this site. And with all these joke threads floating around, that might not happen until my next thread. (Oh don't worry I already have the topic and everything, I'll save you a seat)

I'm fine with joke threads but this site is like 60% joke stuff, 35% lists (what's your favorite game, blah blah blah), and then 5% discussion that requires actual thought. It's nice to have balance.

I'm still working on the "articulating my point while caring about others" thing.

Hey I have my moments.

@Edwin: LOL I thought the same thing when I saw it.

In response to starting to talk about games again:

EARTHBOUND, anyone?

NPC Mario Tennis sucks.

Metroid Prime 3 ftw.

@pixelman:

EARTHBOUND!

You lie! It's really good, although it does work better given larger space to work with.

I haven't played it yet. Planning to go through all three in the Prime Trilogy, though!
