@antdickens Most errors have disappeared in the Java Console, except for this one:

TypeError: Cookies.getJSON(...) is undefined

@antdickens Sorry for all the effort you have to make, but still no change.

Meanwhile, I've removed ALL of my history and cache from today, went into Application Data and in the folder Mozilla and the sub folder of my user profile, and I also removed "Session Store", which still contained some old NLife data, I removed all cookies, removed the user and password from my password manager, rebooted my PC, and STILL this persists. I honestly have NO idea whatsoever what else to try.

And that same Java error is also still there: TypeError: Cookies.getJSON(...) is undefined

Oh, and the reply button still sends me to "https://www.nintendolife.com/#", so I keep having to do everything manually. Going to be fun with the more exotic user names on here...

@antdickens By the way, this is what it says if I activate the little pull down button underneath that Java error. Perhaps you can make use of that:

@ThanosReXXX thanks, that's very strange as it's like your device isn't picking up the new files. It's changed since then and therefore not sure why you're not seeing them. I've not (yet) had anyone else with the same issue, which is odd. Can you test in another browser?

@antdickens Tried all the same steps in Chrome. Same result. That's actually a bit of a relief, though, because I absolutely HATE the Chrome browser and I only use it in emergency situations or for testing purposes.

This has always happened to me for as long as I have taken notice. I thought it was just the way the website worked.

@antdickens Just tried it on my phone. Works just fine, everything in order. Strangely though, I got a pop up asking me to accept cookies, while I was never logged out on my phone. I never got any pop up screen to accept new cookies on the PC...

@Hikingguy If you've always had that, then how the heck do you see notifications? If you don't see your own login avatar in the top right corner, that function isn't available, so now all I can do is hunt all the articles I've been in manually, to see if someone has replied to me, and I can't use the reply button either, so that too, has to be done manually.

It's been a highly annoying and off-putting experience so far, and to think that only half a day or so ago, everything was still working just fine...

@ThanosReXXX thanks for the Chrome screenshot... I actually think it's something to do with the Ad Blockers you are using(!)... naturally we prefer that you don't use Ad Blockers on our site, otherwise we don't earn any money. So, the best advice would be to simply turn them off

That said, if you can let me know exactly which extensions you have installed I'd be curious to try and replicate the issue my end so it can be fixed.

@antdickens Okay, I've no idea what just happened or if that was something you changed/did, but all of a sudden, everything is working as it should again. Either way, thanks ever so much for your time and trouble. You're golden.

If you want, I can still send you some screenshots of the extensions/addons, though, so let me know.

As for the ad blockers: yeah, sorry about that, but I'm not really partial to all the banners and weird open spaces in between the articles and so on. I'd be more than happy to do any other kind of sponsoring. This is one of my favorite sites, so if for example, there would be an ad free version option available for a decent fee, then I would seriously consider it.

@ThanosReXXX I do not see notifications. I keep checking back, especially if I am in a conversation. Like for example, I did not get any notification for this post, but I saw you posted something so I looked. But my reply buttons are there. It is like I am half signed in and half not. It was strange, but you are correct, I do have to search for any topics manually if they are not on the the main page.
My "Topic history" is only populated with very, very recent forums that I visit and then after a short period of time it says something like I have to log in to see my history. But I never logged out and yet I am still logged into the website as a whole.
I hope that makes sense.

@ThanosReXXX Maybe what I am experiencing is different, but it still has always seemed odd to me. Kind of like I am only half logged into the forums, but fully logged into the website.
I am not sure if that makes sense.

@antdickens well, you assume I know how to do that. How about I see if whatever change you made helps me too. Because my topic history is sticking around much longer than usual.
But thanks for being willing to help!

@antdickens Okay, smiley says joking, but I'm dead serious. I just HATE big banners and constantly moving and blinking pictures on websites, no matter how much they aid the website in their revenue efforts, no offense.

In any case, if we're talking acceptable, then I'd say preferably around 10 euros, or 15 euros max per year. Ten is what I've paid to support various other sites where I was a registered and paying user in the past.

By the way: do you still want that list of extensions/addons for your testing purposes?

@ThanosReXXX haha, no I’m serious too. We have been considering a paid for version for a while that is ad free. However, we were thinking something more like 2-3 euros (less than a cup of coffee) a month, which is more than you’re suggesting. That works out at like less than 10 cents a day...

@Hikingguy What browser do you use? You could Google "how to make a screenshot of the Java console in <put the name of your browser here>". Or... just take a look at the following:

It's relatively easy, once you know it. In Firefox, you can simultaneously press Left Ctrl + SHIFT + K to get the window to pop up at the bottom of the browser window, and then select the "JS" tab to see the Java console.

In Chrome, press left Crtl + SHIFT + I, and the console should pop up on the right side of the screen. No need to select a tab there.

And then, in both cases, take a screen shot with the print screen button on your keyboard, and save the screen in paint or whatever other program you use. I personally use Paint Shop Pro.

Then upload it to a website like for example https://postimages.org/ and then post the result here. Hope that helps. It makes a world of difference to have the complete site experience, so I'd say give it a go and reply to @antdickens with your findings. You might never know how simple it can be to solve it...

Just check the screenshots I posted to see how the console looks both in Firefox and in Chrome.

@antdickens Alternative idea: let people (choose to) sponsor you with the amount I suggested, and just let them use ad blockers. In that case, it's less trouble for you guys to put up an alternative script for displaying the site without ads to certain members that'll subscribe to that paid version, and you'd still get a bit of revenue out of it. I would have no problem with that, even though I already use ad blockers.

But potentially having to pay 26 euros a year isn't really going to persuade me to turn them off, sorry...

So, to get back onto the topic of problem solving: no more screenshots of my list of extensions needed then?
