I've done this with many games, mostly RPGs where you can only save at save points. "Oh no I'm strong enough to fight this boss I don't need to save" Proceeds to lose 2 hours of my life.

Yeah haha, I've done it a TON with Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy!
Always sucks, haha. Although I do think that RPGs that don't come with auto-save or save points and also boot you back to the title screen when you die is simply awful design. In the NES era, sure, I can live with it. RPGs that are still doing it in the 21st century can go straight to hell, though~

Lol, when I was younger, my siblings did that to my pokemon games all the time. 600 hours worth of playtime on one cartridge? Gone in less than a minute. >:[

@Raylax Pokèmon is a perfect example.
I always end up forgetting to save. The worst feeling is when you realize right after you turn it off.

Haha, I deleted my older cousin's Pokemon Yellow save file when he had all three starters level 70+ and the elite four beat. That was like 2003
I accidentally sat on the Wii Mote and Nunchuck at the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess menu screen. When I looked up, turns out when I sat down I pressed just the right combination of buttons to go into my Save File and Delete it.
I was about 70% thru the game. I started over and went thru it all again. Wasn't too happy about that because TP isn't really that enjoyable for me to play. >:[

LOLOLOLOLOLOL, what are the chances of that hahahaha sucks :3
It is actually worse when someone else erases over your file, or even worse than that..
My sister once asked me to save her game for her, so instinctively I saved in the first slot (ie. My own)... ;(

My sister did that to my Lego Pirates 3DS file....I had it damn near 95% complete -.-
Nah, Pokémon doesn't kick you out of the game on death. You just lose a small amount of cash and teleport back to the last Pokémon center - your actual progress in the game isn't lost at all.
It's of course, perfectly possible to forget to save, and then reset the game yourself in reaction to a doomed battle - done that myself once or twice - but the point was specifically games that force reset themselves on game over, pushing you back to the last time you saved with no say in the matter.
