I've been playing through the entire KH franchise because I'm bored and have no money for fresh games. The story goes from relatively simple to really convoluted in a short span of time. But playing them all back to back, things are pieced together. Birth by Sleep is definitely my favorite, story-wise
I haven't played BBS, but I must say I like Aqua's design a lot.
Not usually a fan of Nomura's designs, but this one is really good.
Actually, if he made the skirt a little longer and removed some of the pointless belts, zippers, and pouches, I would really like Lightning's design too. The half-cape thing is a little weird too, maybe it should connect to both shoulders. Oh, and the way the sword dangles behind her thighs when she runs is kind of annoying... Good overall though, just needs some minor tweaks.
A very hefty portion of the story does center on Tidus and Yuna's romance, which I don't think could be reasonably argued as a mature, adult relationship.
You're gonna have to elaborate on that one. I think their relationship is probably the most mature in any Final Fantasy game! They're a bit weird in their own special ways but they strike me as kinda 20 year olds (can't remember what the exact ages are). Whereas the FF8 cast all feel like 15 year olds.

It felt very superficial to me. Yuna is interested in Tidus because he represents a freedom to her, an "out" of her traditions and dogmatic culture where she feels she has no control over her own life. It felt more like a teenage girl with strict parents dating a drop out, just because he was the first guy to tell her that she could do whatever she wanted.
And for Tidus, he's attracted to her because... I dunno, she's totally hot, I guess? It's been years since I played through the whole game, I don't recall her having much of a personality, sorry. =/
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
As for their actual ages (Tidus & Yuna) BTW, both are 17 in FFX (haven't played X-2). Coincidentally, I happened to find the manual while looking for a notebook earlier today, lol.

I haven't played FFX in a while, but I thought Yuna was one of the better characters, arguably one of the few that I liked more as the game progressed instead of less. I still wouldn't say she was standout great character, but I liked her development. As for her relationship with Tidus, I can't remember that too well, either. I want to say it felt like they had more chemistry as the game progressed, and that the point was more "what started as teenage puppy love turned into a full-blown romance", but at the same time I can't say I was blown away by their relationship, so maybe they didn't handle it as well as they wanted to. It's still the best romance involving main playable characters I've encountered in a Final Fantasy game, but that's actually a very low bar considering the only competition involves Cloud crying over the loss of a girl he just met a few days ago, Squall being strung around by what's her face, Van and Penelo being cardboard cutouts together, and the heavily implied lesbian couple in FFXIII, with an honorable mention to the unhealthy relationship that was Snow + Serah in FFXIII-2 (not sure if it counts since I don't recall Snow being actually playable in that one. I think he was just a guest party member).
I actually prefer the more understated romances that don't get much focus, so Cecil and Rosa, Locke and Celes, Cloud and Tifa, etc. Video games in general tend to have pretty hammy writing and romance is a very easy thing to fumble, so I prefer it when it's more implied than a main part of the narrative.

I don't mind "implied" romances, but they usually have no impact on me, unlike a well-done romance element that's given a decent amount of focus. I think the fact that it's an easy thing to fumble is what makes the times its done well stick out.
Playing FFVII. It looks dated, but I just love the setting and atmosphere. Most RPGs have a medieval setting, seeing something different is sure refreshing.
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.

I love Kingdom Hearts but the writing can get so bizarre at times and is just poor sometimes.

Nomura's design choices are bizarre at times but then he does a great job with Noctis. But yeah... Nomura needs to relax on the zippers and extra junk on Kingdom Hearts characters clothes. Sora's outfit is so ridiculous that its oddly bearable.

I'll say one thing, Noctis sure comes off as the pampered prince he's supposed to be during the demo. In fact, I'm kinda happy he doesn't talk that much, since his basic movements alone make him come off as a bit of a pansy...

Play Tales of the Abyss just before and he'll seem like a wise sage in comparison.

Lol, apology refused! She's awesome. She's like the main thrust of the story. She's planning on sacrificing her life for the people and despite being an absolute noob in almost everything, she also has the most courage and conviction of the whole party and has the guts to refuse consent to Yunalesca and try and break the cycle.
Ok or maybe it's just that I was quite attracted to her.
Completed Episode Duscae, at least as far as I know. It was very fun. Every time I thought I did everything, there was always more to do, but I can't find any info on any more quests, so I think maybe I found them all. With my luck the demo will be updated tomorrow, but I'll still give it a spin to see what's new.

Its very impressive for a demo. I hope Monolith gets inspired by FF XV.

You know, I wonder if Rydia was supposed to be Lydia, but SE just decided to roll with the mistake once it had been made. After all, Lydia is a genuine real world name (like Cecil or Golbez), and the game was originally translated at a time when such errors were pretty common.
I have a similar theory about Pokémon's Brock. All Gen 1 gym leaders have names that fit their theme (Misty & water, Lt. Surge & electricity, and even Giovanni invokes the idea that he's the leader of a Mafia like organization, in lieu of the fact his Pokémon have no element), other than Brock...
Unless of course, he's really supposed to be Block, which would fit his theme perfectly.
