In light of what is going on for Fifa the organization, for the last week or so, i am wondering if Ea is going to try to distance themselves from Fifa or not? How will it effect the sports game series? what do you think?

With the money EA make from the franchise I doubt they really care.

With Septic Bladder finally handing in his resignation FIFA can start to rebuild their reputation now. They have got a long way to go but hopefully we'll get a proper football man at the helm.Figo would be great. The whole voting system needs changed first though, how can Turks and Cacaos Islands vote be worth as much as Germany or Brazi?.I think there is a lot more news to come out though,Blatter has not resigned out of honour,he's either been pushed or he knows they're coming to get him next.He has lots of blood on his hands and personally I would love to see the old corrupt dinosaur arrested and charged.

I doubt it, EA is about as bad for gaming as FIFA has been for football. They need FIFA for the licences and not having the real names would hurt the game sales immensely.

lol EA is making a sh1tload of money with the FIFA games. i prefer PES btw^^

even with Blatter fading away as a lead in the FIFA (and other people too), i doubt we will see much change. money changes people.
i was very disappointed that the UEFA did nothing against Blatter. they had everything in their hands. without the UEFA, FIFA is nothing.

also: champions league final on saturday! not a lot of people seem to realize this but that final is even more important than the worldcup final. no barriers for the teams considering nations. this is football at it's best!

Yeah. At the very least though, we got some funny John Oliver videos out of FIFA. will never forget that fool Jack Warner being duped by an Onion article

In fact, i think everyone should see it. It has to be seen to be believed. Warning, there some harsh language.

Well it's not like Sepp Blatter is on the cover or even in the game. It would be something if it was names Sepp Blatter FIFA or something along those lines, but even if it was they would just drop his name from it or they and probably go with another cover person like they did with Tiger Woods Golf or whatever it's called.

I don't really follow football much nowadays. So how corrupt are FIFA? Anyone actually done the research here?

I've never really followed soccer, but from what they're saying on the news, the organization regularly takes bribes and illegally moves money, the numbers in 100's of millions (billions?). Apparently it also has ties to organized crime, ranging from hiding large amounts of money off the books, to apparently being linked to assassinations (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong)?

Apparently this has been going on for decades (at least since the 80's), and while European news outlets & governments have tried launching investigations before, the organisation has such political clout in that part of the world that they quickly manage to shut down the investigation everytime one is attempted. The difference this time, being a probe from US law enforcement, they didn't have the kind of clout over here to do anything about it.

Apparently the smoking gun was awarding Qatar the 2020 World Cup. It came off as an odd choice for such a large event, due to it's small size in both land area & population (Also, the temperature regularly breaks into the 110's during the time the event would be held). Apparently, it's extremely likely that they were bribed off for the event.

Well if you want to know, then the Last Week Tonight with John Oliver videos about Fifa are a good starting point.

And to RR529, you forgot to mention workers rights in Qatar are pretty bad as well.

I would say so. Given that the Word Cup isn't due to be held until 2022 I'm only surprised nobody spotted it sooner, bit of a give-away.

I don't really see the last week or so's events really changes anything. It's not like the allegations come as a shock. And it's not as if FIFA is the only organisation guilty of corruption. Human societies are riddled with corruption everywhere you go.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

I think the OP was asking about them changing the game's name from FIFA rather than dropping the FIFA licensing altogether as like what has been said already FIFA is the top footie game because it has real players and clubs in it so dropping that licence is never gonna happen,

The barrier is teams based in Europe (so no Brazilian, US etc teams) but it is probably the biggest club match going but I disagree it's bigger than the World Cup.
