I rarely come on these boards, and still mourn the tragic loss of nsider, but I turn to you, fellow Nintendo lovers in this time of great sadness and despair. I recently turned 21, and have barely touched my wii in the last fee years, with no plans to get a wii u or 3ds. I have been feeling weirdly nostalgic for the great games of my childhood; links awakening, ocarina of time, dkc2, chrono trigger, Pokemon red, golden sun, Mario RPGs to name a few. Does anyone else ever get these nostalgic feelings? They make me feel old and miss my childhood. I miss my n64 and Super Nintendo, my old neighborhood friends that would play goof troop with me. Listening to old Zelda chrono music on YouTube makes me sad. Anyone else feel this way? What should i do?
There's no reason to feel sadness or despair. Keep those happy memories but also remain happy about the present and future. Do you still have your old games and consoles? If not, make a hobby out of buying your old games and consoles again to relive the experience. I know how you feel though, video games were a huge part of my childhood. I recently turned 30, and I've been collecting retro games and systems several years now. I have so many cherished memories of playing with my friends and family. I'd love to hop in a time machine and go back to those days, but unfortunately I can't. On the bright side, Nintendo makes quality products, so there games and systems still work just like they did when you were a kid
I've been getting into a lot of retro games recently, although it's not to do with being jaded with the games of today. It all started with wanting to get through my backlog. Amongst them were some great Nintendo games such as Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess, but I then started to feel the urge to go back and play older games in those series, so I could appreciate how they'd evolved over time.
What started as buying a few VC titles led to me buying some older consoles, some that I never owned, others that I had owned but had since been sold/given away. I never had any Nintendo console before the Wii, and I never had a Playstation. That's a huge number of great games missed right there, so now I'm having a great time filling in the holes of my video game history.
I'll definitely have to check out secret of evermore. And I still have all of my old consoles so I'll have to go back and play all the classics I might have missed. I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes suing retro games. Thank god for the VC but I can't believe earthbound is only for the wii u :/
actually... this is probably a great idea. not only are there plenty of remakes and/or rehashes of those old classics available, there's also some new things here and there that may perk you up a bit. :3

This is the topic for me! I'm 19 and looking at Super Mario Bros. now compared to every modern game... I feel so old. I'd say you should buy a 3DS, it really helps get into your childhood dream land once more, it's quite nice. Problem is, I'm starting to act more and more childish everyday because of my nostalgicness... I hate growing up... it's so bleh.
@Chris720: Growing up isn't so bad. it just takes getting used to :3

As a grandfather who's been playing video games since the 1970s, I can tell you you're never too old to game, and to enjoy new games. There's nothing wrong with looking back with fondness and revisiting old favorites, but never, never get stuck in the past. Look forward to the future, make an effort to seek out the best new games (and music). That's my advice, and it's worth exactly what you paid for it...

Video-gaming since the 1970s
21... 19... You kids feel old? Try 24. The 90s were the golden years, for Nintendo, for most media really... Virtual Console is the best thing ever, but I wish more of my nostalgic childhood games would come out there... Goof Troop, Disney's Aladdin... Anything on the N64... Thankfully I have my old consoles somewhere in my basement but dust hasn't been kind to them. >>

I've taken to modern games with open arms, as positives outweigh old negatives for me. As for music, I'm much more humbug on it. Movies, a little less so, but the bulk of my viewing is pre 90's. With many exceptions, of course.

Oh heavens no, my dad wasn't very organized because of his ADD and he was always moving stuff of mine if I didn't touch it for a little while. I currently don't know where in the basement some of my old systems are, my dad passed away a year and a half ago and we still haven't managed to get the basement organized, it's amazing how much stuff he had down there. but I do know he saved it all, he saved everything.
