Okay, I looked through my library and found my most-played VGM tracks. Here are some of my favorites.

Acquatic Ambience. That's my favorite Donkey Kong Country VGM of all time.

Hook not only is one of my favorite licensed titles of all time, but it has one of my favorite licensed title OST of all time.
Okay, I have a confession to make: I listened to this song many a time before I played Hook. It sounded amazing then, and when I play the game, I still think it sounds amazing.

This song has a type of Oriental feel to it during some parts of it, or maybe it's just me... Still, I love it.

Though my number one favorite song from SNES Hook is the eighth stage theme. Unfortunately, I can't find a YouTube video with just the eighth stage song (there is a gameplay video). I will say that the theme is very atmospheric and gives a sense of wonder and of being in a mysterious location.

it's about time you come around. I love that game; it's one of my favorites for the cube. I actually did a review of it on YouTube. The music is also obviously good.

you know as well as anyone i've been around in terms of recognizing quality when i see it. i just haven't seen a lot of it. but yeah it is great. i've only played about an hour of it, but i had the hardest time stopping. it's just so fun. reminds me of the Prime series, and that's HIGH praise from me.

Some of my favorite songs from Final Fantasy VI:

I can still picture that scene between Celes and Cid.

Not only is Locke one of the greatest characters in RPG history, imo, but he also has one of the best RPG character themes of all time. Hooray for adventure!!!

One of the most relaxing songs I've heard, and a very fitting cute melody for a cute character. I'll always remember the first time I heard this melody.

EDIT: I love that intro theme from the game, bro.

Final Fantasy VI definately has my favorite soundtrack among SNES games, with its many varied and expressive themes.

I tried to find some good, lesser-known pieces, and add a little more variety. The title to Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness is one of the best pieces of music I've heard in a while. I haven't played the game, but it makes me want to.

I don't know if anyone will actually listen to this since this page is just packed with music - but I really love this theme from Shenmue:

And just because it's awesome:

I listen to everything on this thread; I love listening to video game music I may not have heard before

@bro2dragons
Those are great finds. Both are games I've been looking forward to. I don't remember how I came across those two tracks, but I've heard them before and thought they were amazing.

Here's some more to add to the ever-growing list of great VGM

and, of course, I have to throw some Koji Kondo in there. Notice how the end of the end theme to Star Fox 64 is incredibly similar to the end theme to Ocarina of Time. Oh, Koji...you rapscallion, you.

I can understand how some people might not regard Kirby's Dream Land 3 as highly as I do. But, when I read the review, it said the game had bad music. :/ Um, am I the only one that's confused about what the review meant by that? Because I thought it had good music. This being one of my favorites from it:

"It's time to bump it, bump it, bump it, bump it, bump it". Sorry, was thinking of that famous exercise song (for which I do know the title of).

Anyway, is it just me, or does it seem like the SNES version of this song one-ups the PC-Engine version of the song?

Plok has such a wonderfully composed soundtrack by the Follin Brothers, and this is my favorite song from the game.

I'm enamoured with SoulBlazer's songs, including this one. The ending is unforgettable.

The soundtrack might not be the highlight of Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday, but I do think it's got some good songs, this one included:
