Oh man... this is like asking a father who is their favorite child! But if I had to choose three, I'd have to say... Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Super Mario Galaxy 2, or Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

And Mickeymac, you need to stop spreading false information and let the man tell the truth.

Would it be a waste of time to make a thread about bringing Sunshine to the 3DS do you think?

Out of every time I've ever been to gamestop I've only seen one man eat a pair of pants.

The rest is just going around full circle, so I'll just say this: Racing games are supposed to be skill-based. That's what makes them fun to fans of the genre. Take that away, and you take out its point as a racing game.

As for the sports games, not only are they poor representations of quality sports, they also include cheap elements that break the rules. That's not fair, and that's not fun.

Well why are you comparing the game it's a different platformer from Daxter or raymen 2.

They're linear 3D platformers with power-ups and minor collecting elements, that sounds pretty similar to me.

Anyways, 'Super Mario Kart' is definitly skill based....The weapons take the back seat, while the racing takes full center stage. Plus there's no Blue Shell BS to speak of. If you've played that one enough you'd realise it's easily one of the best racers out there. Mario Kart Wii however kind of casualised the franchise...'Luck' definitly lends a hand in that one.....

I have to agree with that. Super Mario Kart was the only Mario racing game I felt I actually needed skill to beat, not a lucky item.

Agreed.

I think it's unfair to put all the blame on Mario Kart Wii. The luck factor has been in every game except the first one, it's just way more noticeable in MKWii.

Mark me down for Super Mario World as my favorite! The memories of this... I have ran through this game more times then any other game.

2nd would go to Super Mario Bros. 2. I cannot explain it but there is something special abotu this one. It was so unique and crazy but all seemd so alive and real and it made me want to toss overgrown vegetables at masked things with hoods!

Also what exactly is it that you dislike about the Super Mario franchise? Did Princess Peach turn you down on a date?

Nothing in particular, I just have major problems with pretty much every game except Sunshine.

No you are picky because you take down a game that is good and call it bad because of how the game plays. I mean mario party is a board game every board game has luck. You are always hoping to land on some space. However it's still competitive because even if someone gets lucky in a minigame or lucky enough to get a free star you still try to comeback and win. It's not based all on luck. I have seen a ton of people who never have played mario party and are not lucky enough to win. You take down mario party or his sports or his racing game because they were designed how the game is actually supposed to be played. You say the items in mario kart take away from the challenge but that's what mario kart is. It's like mini golf just because they have all these different items doesn't mean it's not a fun little golf or racing game. Plus if you are skilled enough even if you get hit with a blue shell you can come back from it. Like I said the sports games are not meant to be just mario playing baseball. The items come from the mario franchise. Those games just have the basic rules of sports. You just try to score. The items make it fun and if you get hit with one you try to come back from it. Finally I know they are platformers and will have similar elements in them but they do have different ideas. For example super mario galaxy you jump from planet to planet while this one platformer flips twisted world you used the wii mote to flip the wirld around to walk on walls or ceilings. Yes generally the same but still a different way to do things. Plus the story even if small adds something different. You said it's not really creative but I played through it and saw many creative things in the game. Maybe not the most amazing platformer in the world but still a great one. I think as gamers even if we hate a game we should still respect it. Sorry this was so long.

In the Mario kart and sports games there is still skill involved even if there is still some luck due to the items and other gimmicks. For example, when one of my friends came round who had never played MKW before, played it with me and I was high up in most races, normally 1st or 2nd, and if not I was at least in the top 5 while she was doing pretty badly but she had a fun time with it and enjoyed it enough to get it for her wii. Then when we next played, I was still noticeably better but she had definitely improved and was normally in the top 5 but did still do badly at times.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's how it works. I wouldn't be complaining if it didn't play terribly.

I think we should respect games that actually deserve it.

Anyways, this discussion has gotten too repetitive, so I'm just gonna end it here with this: You can't convince someone that a game is good when from their own experience it wasn't. I've tried it, and many others before you have tried it. It just doesn't work.

My favorite Mario game (and my most favorite game period) is Super Mario World. I feel that it perfects 2D Mario and has it's own style that makes it unique from other Mario games.

When you have a game that's as heavily based on luck as Mario Party, the players' actions have much less impact on the game's outcome. Everyone is trying to win, but it's still not competitive because your efforts aren't what determines the winner.

If skill was supposed to be the major factor, why did they even put blue shells in?

But then there's the luck factor. I'm not saying certain things in video games shouldn't be random. The amount of luck in these games is ridiculous, though. It doesn't matter how well you play when your skill takes backseat to a pair of dice.

Well this will be my last one as well. All I was trying to have you do was respect the games for what they are instead of taking them down for how they were actually supposed to be made. I am not a huge fan of sony but I still respect them for what they do. I don't really like halo but I don't like it because you have to go around shooting things it's because I can never really get the hang of the controls. However I still respect it for what it is. You don't like mario kart because it's a racing game that uses items. However that's what mario kart is. That's what makes mario kart Mario Kart. Plus even if someone gets a blue shell doesn't it take skill to know to hold it until the very end. To use it right before your about to win. Yes it's rude to do that but it does take skill to realize you can hold it until the end. Anyway I will end it with respect a game for what it is even if you don't like it.
