The mountains in the first Donkey Kong Country game. It starts off a slight snowfall and then becomes a full scale blizzard. The music particularly sets the scene too. Brr...

i love the snow/ice stages in DKC1 and 2 both to be honest; the music was the best IMO. i also love that one stage in world 6 of SMB3 with all the coins at the end you have to torch with fireballs in order to get to the secret pipe... lol, half the time i forget that's there :3

New Super Mario Bros. Wii snow stages were fun with the penguin suit.

Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime, the ice section in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the Cryosphere from Metroid: Other M, any snow/ice stage in any Super Mario game, the ice stages from DKC, the ice world from Taz: Wanted, there's more, but I'll stop here...

I really liked the level Slip Slide Ride in DKC 1 (I thought it was pretty and I liked the music). And I like being a sleigh in Kirby's Epic Yarn in the snow levels

I also liked getting to the Ice Temple on the Train in Spirit tracks. I also liked everything else in that game. =3

Definitely Phendrana Drifts is my #1. I also liked Snowpeak Ruins (Z:TP) and NSMBW like Wizzle up there.

Freezeezy Peak in Banjo Kazooie, Phendrana Drifts in Prime, World 6 SMB3, Scene 3 in TMNT 2 for the NES, and Blizzard Man's stage in Mega Man 6.

I like the first snow level in Mission in Snowdrift Land, does that count?

Phendrana Drifts is seconded for a favorite. My second favorite would be a tie between Epic Yarn, SoulBlazer, and Ape Escape. They all had really good snow/ice areas as well. (Even though the snow level in SoulBlazer was a bit annoying due to the heat-seaking snowballs.)

Kirby's Epic Yarn Snow Land and Chill Man's Stage (Especially the music) set me in a jolly mood

I liked the third stage of TMNT 2: The Arcade game on the NES as well as the Hoth Stage in SWBF2. Mostly I dont like Ice stages due to the ice physics that the programmers add to go along with ice stages.

My least favorite Iceman's Stage in Megaman.

• Sonia's Fortress from Equinox: Solstice II

Not really stages, but I absolutely love the Ice Forest and Snow Fortress from Secret of Mana and the Mountain of Lost Souls from SoulBlazer, as well as the the Eldam Mountains from SNES Ys III: Wanderers from Ys. All the places I've named in this post are really fun expositions to explore. Plus, the music is absolutely fantastic; to name a few examples, I love how Hook's snow stage has a bit of an oriental theme in it, Secret of Mana's Ice Forest theme is absolutely calm and relaxing, and the Mountain of Lost Souls from SoulBlazer is one of the most appropriately atmospheric songs I've heard, and one of my favorites. The songs from Kirby's Epic Yarn I thought were truly wonderful.

Muramasa the Demon blade had a nice looking snow covered area. I also liked the beautiful snowy places in Lostwinds 2 Winter of the melodias. That whole game was just filled with snowy goodness.
Wasn't there a snowy area in Okami also?
