Can't choose one over the other, as I have all 3. It's what handheld gaming should've always been...
The handheld I feel has been handled the most disappointingly is the PSP....playing Crisis Core....then every other game on the system....sigh....could have been so awesome.

I assume people saying GBA SP2 are talking about the newer version with the higher quality screen released alongside the GBA Micro? I have one of those, and I love it. Even so, my DSi beats it out for favorite handheld because I simply play it a lot more. Throughout the years, my favorite handheld has always been the latest Nintendo handheld. I doubt that'll ever change.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
@VGP: I see where you're coming from. Like I said above: I love my PSP...there just isn't enough to do with it. I feel like a judgment based on how easy it is to pirate games using it isn't really a console strength, but rather a weakness....and otherwise, there is a paltry selection of below-average games with bad load times...if it had gotten more support out of the gate it could have been amazing...and I feel Crisis Core is the best portable game ever made.
But I just can't in good conscience rate it above the DS line due to playtime...my DS has been used daily pretty much since I bought the phat at launch...PSP goes months without use.

I guess it does come down to which games you prefer, but I'm still surprised anyone wouldn't be able to find the kind of games they like in the DS's massive library.
@Corb - can you actually play Shmups using its D-pad? I just don't like the D-pad much...or the Joystick....if either one was more usable I'd prob find more reasons to break it out....my Gradius Collection doesn't need to be any harder than it is with good controls....nor does R-Type Delta.
For me that has to be the first Game Boy Advance, mostly based on nostalgia, I have so many good memories with it; but there's one more reason, I'm not that fond of the rechagable batteries handhelds use now a days, I know it was more expensive, but still I miss the old AA.
I'm not a huge fan of the Sony d-pad in general, but it does okay. I don't play many shmups on the PSP anyway. I stick to my Japanese Xbox 360 and my cabinets.
i can see people like the PSP better because "du graphx r shinnyur", but there is no hand-held with a software lineup as good and as innovative as the nintendo DS
